Just saw this demonstration on YT. While it's an LX not a GX, the comparison is valid.
If you drive in the Great White North, get real snow tires.

Airing down helps quite a bit (my old Land Cruiser)

 

I love my dedicated Winter/Snow tires on my 04 GX470...it's night and day compared to my 3-peak All Season tires on Snow and Ice in Minnesota. I picked up a set of used 17" Toyota 4Runner wheels and have the Bridgestone Winter Tires on them.

 

On our GX we've gotten away with General Grabbers for so many years. On our cars however, it's always Blizzaks during winter, and Conti's DWS 06 Plus for the rest(although The DWS is an excellent tire for snow).
