Default Squeaky brakes :( what to do ?

My brakes started squeaking. Happens only for the first 6 - 7 stops though, then the noise slowly goes away. One thing Im sure of, it is getting louder. It started last week and the noise was moderate. Right now even pedestrians turning their heads when I brake

I dont think its time to change the brakes, the car has only 7,500mil.... What can that be? Do you think the warranty covers something like this?

Thanks

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is a well-documented problem that will get worse the colder it gets...much much worse. My 08 GS350 embarrassed me the entirety of last winter. Multiple calls to Lexus were met with an assurance Lexus was working to resolve the problem. My dealer tried a couple temporary fixes. Lexus finally called and told me to take my car to the dealer to have the official fix performed. By then, it was already warm and they weren't squealing anymore, but the official fix was performed anyway. Now that it's cold again in Chicago, the squealing is back. I am taking it in on Thursday so they can take yet another stab at the problem. I LOVE everything about the car, but the squealing brakes really ruin the experience. I am going to make a big fuss if the issue isn't resolved ASAP. Enduring this problem for nearly 2 years of ownership is unacceptable.

Getting the same issue here as well. The car has 40k miles on it, but I don't think it needs a change yet, unless I'm wrong.

My brakes have recently started making noise. I have already had the dealership "clean " them and it still happens. I think its annoying and really embarrassing when you are rolling in a 50K luxury car that look HOT, but yet your brakes squeak. It looks so ghetto

It is the pads....Mercedes and BMW have the same problem nowadays...
New OEM pads have too much metallic content in them now. The older pads had asbestos as filler instead. If the dealer can not satisfy you try ceramic pads.
Good Luck!

Posi Quiet Brake Pads was an answer for my problems. Don't go with ceramic pads, GS is too heavy for them.

I have had them try to clean the rotors twice and I still get squeaking when I first set off. Its embarrassing . They need to get this resolved.

my is350 did this with stock breaks and then again when I got the break pads for less dust.

now my gs450h started squeeling a few days ago.. only way to prevent it is for me to brake hard... sucks

I have an '08 450h w/ about 25,000 mi and it started for me about 3 or 4 months ago...squeaking when I'm backing out of the garage and when they're cold for the most part..took my car into the dealer and told them that I've heard of multiple service bulletins for this issue and I wanted it fixed because it's not from the indicators which begin when the pads need replacing, but is an entirely unique noise that can only be described as a locomotive coming to a stop.

They had my car for about an hour and changed the shims....drumroll...............I have had NO noise since. no charge.

My '08 GS350's brakes started squeaking for the first 3-4 brake applications each day. I finally pulled the pads out (it's a trivial procedure - remove the retaining clip from the pin, pull the pin, pull out the pads) and put a thin layer of high-temperature anti-seize between the pad and the shims. Not a peep from the brakes since. I am using the low-dust pads installed by the dealer at 5000 miles. Car has 19500 miles now.

There is yet another TSB. Go to dealer to change pads AND rotors.

Do you have a TSB number? or even better a copy of the TSB itself?

vladbph, did you get the letter from Lexus regarding this TSB??? I didn't anything regarding this TSB. My brakes squeak like crazy esp. when it's cold outside in the morning. It's loud and very embarassing. This happens only to my gs430.
My sc430 doesn't squeak at all. What's the difference bt. the gs and the sc???
