Default P1349 VVT System Malfunction (Bank 1b) PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey guys,

My car's CEL, VSC, VSC off lights came on and my car started to drive rought.
Especially when i'm standing still or parked. Couple days later my light turned off and my car started to drive normal. But it happened again today.

So I followed the direction on the thread "P1349 VVT System Malfunction (Bank 1b)"

Pulled the codes and came up like this
P1349 VVI Malfunction Bank 1. Bank 1
P0300 - Multiple random misfires
P0301-P0306 Cylinders 1,2,3,4 and 5.

I'm 2 hrs away from the Lexus dealership so I decided to clean the OCV Filter.
Until I can get a new one... sometime next week.

I clean it with brake cleaner and dried it with compress air.
Reinstalled, started the engine. The engine running rought, shaking... for about 40 seconds and all of the sudden the engine started to run normal.
I checked the lights, they still on.. I thought it would go off later.
Started to drive and 10 mins later my same symptoms came back.
But now its worse. My car wont start unless I press the gas while cranking.
Also, the engine turns off when Im stopped. I have to press the accelartor while branking so my car wont stall.

Can you guys help me please????

Thank you

Man, I fell your pain... I have been going through this for the past few weeks. I first had the 1349 code along with all 6 misfires. I read on here that its the oil control valve, told my mechanic and he said no, ocv is fine and that I need new plugs and wires. So, I change the plugs and wires and it ran alot better but I still noticed a slight jerking and misfire. So I check the ocv filter and it was clean and looked fine. Recently my car started to jerk and misfire badly and the cel came back on, so today I finally gave in and took it to the toyota dealership. They called me back late this afternoon and said my ocv is bad and also the oil line. CHANGE YOUR OCV (sorry, dont mean to yell lol) and this should fix your problem. Good luck. And by the way when I checked my ocv and filter it looked fine and clean!!!

What to you mean change the ovc? do you have the exact name and the part number?
How much did the dealership charge you?

the ocv is the oil control valve. When i checked mine it looked fine and my filter looked clean. But it was bad. The total is $278... and thats with my $89 diagnostic included!! The ocv is like $130 something and the filter is $6 something. Good luck!!

YES...just replace the Oil Control Valve, it will solve your problem, dont waste your time cleaning the old OCV and seafoaming the motor, etc....

The same error code and misfires on 1 3 5 7. I've been so confused on which side is which but I've figured it all out through trial and error. You need to replace the DRIVER SIDE OCV. Its real easy to get to and should only take no more than 15 minutes! I replaced the wrong side cuz I got bad info from the dealer and from the forum!

BANK1, P1349= Driver side OCV
BANK2= Passenger side OCV

It worked! Replaced my OCV and my car is driving smooth again.
But the CEL, VCS light is still on.
How can I get rid of the lights?

Borrow an OBDII reader from someone if you can and clear it that way.

Default Part Number

Part Number is 15330-46011

Camshaft Timing Valve Assembly

For Gen 2 GS 300 2JZ

You can order through Carson Toyota. Waiting on mine to arrive. Cleaned the filter and disconnected the battery and it went away for about a day.
