I got the LEDs from ebay, just typed in Car LED and bought the cheapest set I could find, you'll need about 20 blues and 10 whites. It's better to have 10 left over LEDs than missing one. Btw, I'm trying to do the door lock lights, anybody know what voltage those are running? The LEDs i have for them run 3v but they wont light up, I think they need lower voltage but don't know what.

As long as you take voltage and polarity readings, you should be able to get the LED lights working in your radio. If you're doing it the more creative way (LED and resistor - no base) be sure to have all your homework done first. Not all of the polarity will be in the same direction.
There are very bright LEDs available. The ultra bright green ones are about 34 candlepower. That's wicked bright!

These are the lights I took of from the board, I really just pulled them out with some needle nose pliers. I'm sure the hardcore guys would cringe at that.

This is the bulb I got from ebay

This is the bulb out of its housing with the resistors that came attached

It took me a couple of hours to do this. I had never soddered before so I knew there was a chance I would mess it all up. I guess I got lucky and it worked out good enough.
For the t5 and t4 for the A/C I just took out the bulbs from their stock housing and replaced it with the LEDs.
