I posted the question in the detailing thread but wanted to share my solution with you guys since it's 2GS related. I have noticed that the chrome trim on both of my bumpers has become quite faded with time...almost to a dull light grey color.

I went to the store and bought "Hot Rims- Meguiars Chrome Polish" and used it on the accents on the bumpers and it looks like new. The accents on my car honestly looked like dull OLD paint...just grey with no shine whatsoever. After using the product the accents are shining like new, and this makes such a difference. I even used it on some of the non faded accents and it pulls out a much brighter shine.

I highly recommend it!

... I'll try to use it on them then, mine's dull too and I have a Meguiars chrome polish in my garage anyways. lol

The oxidation will come back. I've polished mine before and it looks new at first, until a few weekss later. I just bought a new one to fix the problem.

Bought a new what? Bumper or accent piece?

I polished min using Meguiares Scratch X. It looked like gray paint, so I figured what the heck. Surprisingly it didn't scratch the chrome accent but took off all the oxidation and left it shiny again. So far its been a few months now and it still looks good. At this rate, even if the oxidation returns, I don't mind polishing it every 3-6 months. Take about 30 minutes so no bid deal.

I have used PlastX on my headlights and was really happy with the results.

I wonder if ScratchX or Chrome Polish works better....?

I think PlastX or similar products are better for the plastic headlights. I myself have used Scratch X on the headlights (Since I just have it laying around all the time) and it did help a lot, but doesn't fully clear it up. You have to go through the how 9 yards with the sanding and even machine polishing IMHO to get the headlights really clean and clear looking.

The chrome strip. I bought mine from Pepboys..It's not as thick as the OEM one due to the adhesive, but You wont be able to tell unless I told you. $15 isn't too shabby either.

Yes, mine left a lot of adhesive residue when I took mine out for paintwork.

Mine left some, but once I put in the new strip, you couldn't even tell. haha. Just make sure it's clean before you apply.
