Default What Octane do you use for your 1998 - 2005 GS4?

What grade do you use for your 1998 - 2005 GS4?

The owner's manual recommends "Premium", but what is considered "premium"? I personally always put in 93. Is 89 considered premium? If so, I think I will save a few pennies and switch to 89.

Sometimes price difference of $.10 is not a big deal between 89 and 93. I fill it up every 2 weeks so it doesn't make too much of a difference for me.
I usually put the highest they have.

Dude do not switch to the 89, the manual actually says you can use it temporarily but it is not recomended because it will cause detonation. The car will retard timing to prevent the detonation but the net result is a loss of performance and power.

Wait, so they have 92? I've never seen 92 before.

I am currently using 93 and will continue to use 93. I do not plan to use 89. I didn't know what "premium" was. So, I played it safe by using 93.

I know here in NYC we have 87, 89, 93 & 94.

I know in some states, you guys have 86.

How about 91 & 92? Are those available to some of you? I'm just curious.

So basically if you live in SoCal & Vegas, you can't get "premium" fuel (which is recommended)?

Spec calls for permium only and nothing else.
It's better for your engine.

I USE NEO- ZERO -ULTRA -SUPER- PERMIUM FUEL. L.O.L

91 is Premium for us. It use to be 92 but for some reason they brought it down to 91 about 4-5 Years ago.

This is how it goes.

87 - Regular
89 - Plus
91 - Premium

I guess it's because of the Strict Emissions we have here in California

But, when Lexus says "Premium" what do they mean? I think it would be more specific if they gave it an Octane number instead of vaguely stating "Premium".

93. thats the highest they go in Tampa without being sold at "Race Gas" dealers. Also, as for the 91, they do have those at a few pumps around theses parts, but not many.
