nice. I’ll reach out.
im at 38k miles and brake pad squeal just started.
Is the consensus to replace brakes + rotors ? I know rotor thickness for replacement is < 31mm. Wondering if rotors can wait until 2nd pad replacement.
any idea on cost of brake pads+rotors without brake flush?
my Indy mechanic for my BMW charges approx $200-225 per axle for labor. Lexus seems to me more $$ if going through dealer, but I assume it’s $300 per axle through dealer for labor?

dealer prices for gsf brake all 4 corners is kinda nutz. I buy all oe parts and have Otis do the installs. Very reasonable pricing. And he drives a SC'ed RCF. He's a lexus enthusiast and a good dude. You'll be happy w his service and prices. i would replace the rotors as well.
I’m tired of using the stealership and there’s such a paucity of good indy shops familiar w/ F cars compared to BMWs.
last time I went for an oil change the idiots rotated the tires…on a staggered car..
the dealer is on autopilot w/ RX & ES servicing, and an F car is just not what they’re used to seeing at least in the NE. Maybe Texas or Florida are different.

I usually trek it out to Lexus of Southhampton. It’s a ways away, but it’s far away from the epicenter of garbage dealers in the NYC area.
they’ve always done right by me in terms of not doing unnecessary servicing and even the aesthetic of the dealer is very old school Lexus. Feels like a Toyota dealership, which I like and they don’t have a high turnover like Rallye Lexus or other NYC area dealerships. So greater attention to detail but I know they’re not seeing lots of F cars.

You can look at the rotors and see if they're too thin. The slots disappear when the rotor is worn to the limit. Squeaking isn't the real check. The wear limit sensors will light up the dash and you won't be able to suppress the warning when the pads have 15% left. In my experience, the OEM pads in the front last about 20k, and the rotors last about 40k if you put in OEM pads again at 20k. OEM rear pads and rotors wore out at 40k. I replaced them with rotors and pads from Rockauto - POWER STOPZ231807 (Premium) Z23 Evolution Sport pads. CENTRIC 90944088, CENTRIC 12644193, and CENTRIC 12644194. Feel is OK, they're definitely not track pads, but if you don't track your car, they'll work fine. They last a whole lot longer than OEM. The wife has over 100k miles and she just mentioned she heard a brake noise yesterday. Last service was at 40k miles.

haven’t had any issues w/ stock GSF brakes, and I really don’t need anything more aggressive. My pad wear is about 38k miles so about time to do pads and most likely rotors at the same time unless they’re really not close to the <31mm replacement recommendation wear point.
appreciate the Rec on those alternate pads/rotors, though.

Reached out to Otis and just had the brakes done and I couldn’t be happier with his attention to detail, communication, workmanship and professionalism. He’s a real Toyota/Lexus enthusiast and a very knowledgeable technician.
I highly recommend any F and non F car owners to use Next Level Auto for their servicing needs. I see no point in going to a dealer for non warranty work.
