I have some great news...and a question that I'm sure you guys can help a brotha out with. First off: I just purchased a pre-owned GS-F 2017 model...and I'm SO FREAKING EXCITED for it to arrive in a few days. I'm upgrading from my current 2014 GS350 F Sport, so it'll be a huge change upward for me.
Now for the question: the previous owner went with black brake calipers (see pics below), but I've always loved the orange ones...they really make the car pop, especially with this blue color. What's the best way for me to go about getting the orange calipers. Should I order new ones and have them put on (and then sell the black ones?...if I sell the black ones, is there a market for them, will somebody actually want them?)? Or should I have a professional company just powder coat the existing black ones and paint them the color that I want? I've been quoted well over $1000 for that...so it seems like it may just be better to buy new calipers and sell the old ones?
Black calipers are pretty rare in 2017++ GSF even though they are the base option. Your best bet is to buy them new or used off eBay and sell off your black ones. Trading would be hard as, there are only a handful of people that don't like the orange calipers.
Or you could powder coat them but if I recall, another member tried to get the exact orange and wasn't successful.
If you powdercoat them keeping the F logo will be a big challenge. Some people have had problems with powdercoated calipers if you track the car. Is there a market for used black calipers? Yes, RRRacing just announced a conversion kit to put your calipers on an IS F, and I'm sure there are IS F owners who are looking for these calipers right now. That's the best route to get what you want with the OEM finish.

Good call, I'll ask their forum if nobody in this forum bites...thanks for the advice!

I ended up getting the orange calipers and have put my black calipers for sale in the marketplace. Here is the link to the marketplace...I feel that's a very reasonable asking price.

Ahhh crud, it seems like my lexus dealership fleeced me on what they charged me. I'll adjust my price to lower than above.
NP Man..See if you can return them to your Lexus Dealer..lol I plan to get the entire setup and convert my GS350 Fsport brakes to these. Love the USB I got the same color..Just gotta figure out if my aftermarket wheels will clear the fronts before I start this process.

If that doesn’t work contact your credit card company and see if they’ll reimburse you the difference.
or buy the $1200 set and return it to your dealer (if you’re morally inclined to do so). But I don’t think it’s necessarily an immoral thing to do considering it’s the same exact part from another Lexus dealer.
