New breaks every 20,000km on my GS350 2015?
I'm told by my Lexus dealer that I need to replace all breaks on my GS350 2015 for the second time! my car has 38,000km and I had the breaks done at 15,000km. This is my third Toyota but first Lexus and if this is the norm for Lexus, well this is my last one!

New Breaks
Thanks for the reply, it's not like I'm driving the car hard at all. I have three other vehicles and had Toyotas before and this never happen to me. The Lexus dealer seems to think that it's normal for this type of car... ya right!
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Is it just the brake pads or the rotors too?
I have about 14k miles (23k km) on my 15 GS but the brakes, other than some squealing, are still in good shape. I'll take it in for service next month and they'll measure the brakes again, but at my 10k service they had very little wear.

Be careful the dealer isn't blowing smoke on you. I would only expect a short brake pad change interval if you do a lot of city driving.
Even then, in most cases, you should only need a set of pads the first go around at least....

I’d personally check them myself first, the rears you can literally see how much pad you have left, the fronts you have to take the wheel off, but for how much you’d save by doing so, it’s worth the hassle (if you can take the wheel off by the way, you can change the brake pads, might even be easier than removing the wheel).
Unfortunately though, depending on how you drive, or more specifically where you drive, needing to replace the brakes that soon is plausible.i had to replace the front brake pads on my ES330 after a year living in the city, must have been only 12k miles.

There's no way your brakes should wear in that short period of time. I drive mine pretty hard and do all maintenance work myself - I changed out my pads about 10000km ago(Akebonos Ultra Platinum Ceramics), and when I changed to winter tires last week, the beveled part of the pad was still intact, which indicates the pads should easily last me at least 30000km more. Are you sure by doing brakes, they don't mean just changing brake fluid?
In general, don't just take the word of the dealer, they're all scums. Which dealer do you go to?

Brake pads on the F-Sport won't last as long as on a non-F-Sport. In comparing how long your brake pads last it's important to state whether it is a F-Sport, or not.

I just traded a 15 GS350 F-Sport with about 25k miles on it and the brakes were still perfectly fine, never replaced them or anything. The car was mostly used in city, not highway, and had a lot of stop and go... I think the dealer is playing you

Thanks for all your feedback! it is the F-sport model and I don't drive it to work but mainly long trips on highway. The back breaks where on metal I could here them. I'm now thinking that because the car is parked for days and sometime 2 or three weeks between trips, the caliper must be ceasing, specially in the back! I asked the dealer to check them and they said they were still good. again thanks for your feedback very appreciated. I don't think the car is for me to be used occasionally.

I have about 23k miles (37,000 km) on my GS and the brakes are perfectly fine. I know some dealerships want you to replace brakes every 10k to 12k miles for some reason i don't know lol The dealership where I live recommend that you replace brakes every 10k miles. That is just simply stupid.
