I've have a question about the AC in my 2014 GS350. The temperature at the vent at its coldest is 40 deg when you first start it and it is cooling down. That seems be be a little high when the outside temp is over 90deg. Everything is in "auto" Took it to the Lexus dealer that I purchased from, they said it was a little low on Freon. They evacuated the system and recharged it. They said it was operating within "normal" parameters. My wife's 2012 ES350 goes down to all most 34deg. Is the dealer blowing smoke up my a$$?

I do not know what the supply temperature should be, but I do know that you should never have to add refrigerant to any A/C, refrigerator, freezer, etc. unless there is a leak in the system. Refrigerant systems are closed-loop and refrigerant does not evaporate or go away unless there is a leak.

Were you in ECO mode when the AC was running? I do know the AC sucks in ECO mode.

Other than that, you could have a leak or moisture in the system which hinders full AC operation.

Ok so maybe you had it in ECO mode the hole time and the dealer didn't even check for that? I suspect if they recharged the system they checked for leaks right

I would think that when the AC compressor is energized that the cooling performance would be the same regardless of drive mode. I think you'll find that [when] in ECO mode the compressor does not operate as often, which allows the temperature (differential) to rise higher compared to when operating in the other drive modes. The bottom line - when the compressor is On the cooling efficiency is the same...and the output temperature at the supply vents will be the same.

I'm not sure how ECO affects it but I do know the AC isn't as cool in ECO mode. I got my car June 2013 and was about to call the service rep because the AC just wasn't cool enough for me. Then I placed it under normal and the AC was noticeably cooler. Perhaps teh compressor doesn't as often like you said.

As far as I know......................................no. No one asked me and/or told me about it being in ECO. It was still in ECO mode when I got it back. Yes they did check it for leaks. I'm still learning about my GS.
