Default Driver side mirror damaged! What are my options?

Hello all,

Recently had some damage done to my driver's side mirror.

Everything on the mirror still works. mirror adjustment, turn signal, BSM, etc.. Only the outer mirror assembly - black plastic pieces and jewel light - are busted. I will not be making an insurance claim. So - fellow owners - what's the best way to get this repaired at a reasonable price? Anyone have experience? I can see a few ways to do the repair and I am open to suggestions.

1. Take it to collision shop and let them handle it. ? How much $$$ ?
2. Get an unfinished replacement part, have it painted and installed. I've seen some replacement pars for $150 + paint $$$
3. Get paint matched used mirror on eBay and install it. Here for $350

I still need to get some estimates for number one. But I'm looking to keep costs down. For options two I'm concerned about paint cost and quality. I have heard in the past that paint shops often have a hard time matching Lexus OEM paint quality. Is this still true? I'm leaning towards option three, but I don't know how hard a mirror install will be. Anyone installed one before? These are non-powered mirrors with blind spot monitor.

Any advice on the choices above? Anything I'm missing? I'll post back with some estimates later.

This video will show you how to disassemble the mirror to replace broken part. Video is for an IS but GS should be similar.

Good luck.
Hey PatrixUSA! Thanks for responding. Thanks for the video. That gives me some confidence at disassembling and repairing. Doesn't seem that hard. Now, as far as replacement parts. I checked MyLParts mirror parts for this model.... It looks like the part I need isn't individually available for sale.

Does that mean I'll need an entirely new mirror assembly? I see a white pearl mirror assembly available here for $525. But that seems a bit pricey. Know of any vendors that have just the inner mirror assembly for sale? I'm thinking it might make the most sense to purchase an existing mirror from another color vehicle, get the inner mirror assembly and then reuse my white pearl outer housing. Does that sound like it would work? Or too risky?

Good eye. Checked again and saw a few available for sale in that price range. That helps.
Here is an example.

This is the same quality as OEM?

No. Any decent repair shop will computer-match the paint on your car and it will be a perfect match.

I did this exact same repair a couple months ago. I ordered OEM, painted parts from LexusPartsNow.com. These are original Lexus parts and the paint was a perfect match, they sell for under $80. Lexus Part number 8794A-30E00-A1

The only tricky part is pulling the mirror out of the clips that hold it, felt like it was going to break. Here is a picture of what arrived in the mail.

Got quotes. Maaco was $950, another local shop was $800. Went with the local shop and they ordered another enitire mirror from Lexus - color matched -and had it installed.

Well, the issue here is less color matching and more of a quality match thing. The paint here is three stage - base, clear, and fleck used in the pearlescent white. But most shops said it would be no issue.
