2016 GS F Pricing Estimation
After seeing so much hype about the new upcoming GS F I was wondering how much this machine may end up costing, and I thought I would venture a guess just for fun here.. and perhaps dream of getting my own one day!
Looking at lexus.com I noticed a pattern of pricing differences between the current GS and the RC. Looks like the GS starts (base without options) right around 13% higher than the RC, and the F Sport is also 13% higher than the RC F Sport. The RC F adds a 33% jump in cost from the RC F Sport too I noted.
Here are the rough numbers (rounded base msrp without options):
RC – $42,700
RC F Sport – $46,700
RC F – $62,400 (33% increase over RC F sport)
GS350 – $48,600 (13% over coupe)
GS350 F Sport – $53,400 (13% over coupe)
If this pricing pattern continues on the new GS F (+13% over coupe model, and 33% above the F Sport)…
I would have to say my guess is the new GS F should be priced starting at right around $71,000!
Seems like it’s going to be a great car for the buck, if I am right of course… Any thoughts or anyone else care to venture a guess here?!
Anyone else thinking they may pick one up if it's in this price range?!

This pricing model makes sense, and it'd be one heck of a car at that price. I just can't help but to think it might be driven up a bit closer towards $80k since the GSh comes nicely equipped near $70k. I don't think it would make sense for the GSh and the GS-F models to both inhabit the sub $70k range.

The GS450h is an image leader for Lexus though since Lexus is all about hybrids- hence the class leading price of the GS450h.
Lexus isn't scared of cross-shopping between GS450h and GS-F even when both are similarly priced since they anticipate that the needs and likes of a potential GS450h shopper to be very different from that of a potential GS-F shopper.
I see the 2016 GS-F as a replacement for the discontinued V8 2011 GS460 except with a far more singular focus on performance, handling and fun-to-drive factors added to the V8.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that Lexus won't use price to differentiate the GS-F and GS450h. If there is a price difference, it will be due to concrete differences in manufacturing/materials costs and not due to a conscious decision to put them in different segments.

sound about right, i would price it $77,850. Could go north of $80,000 if they include such options as carbon ceramic brakes and / or a black edition type set up.

I completely agree with natnut. As a GS450h owner, I wouldn't ever cross shop with the GS-F... especially now that we have the GS450h F-Sport in the U.S. I value other things in my daily commuter.
I think your assessment is quite good Atomic350F. I would venture to guess a low to mid 70's starting MSRP. Definitely would cross the $80K mark when optioned well.

GSh is for the tree-huggers. They're not going to buy the GS-F.

But given the fact that the GS-F will be a relatively low volume car, I don't think a base price in the low 70's is unreasonable and I think Lexus would have no problem moving GS-F's at that price. I just won't be a buyer at/near launch at premium prices so I'll have to look elsewhere when my lease is up in Feb 2016.

I think your estimate seems reasonable/logical. As far as whether I would pick one up....My problem will be the timing. My current lease is up in Feb 2016 when the GS-F will still be relatively new. So I'm guessing a low-70 base price will quickly push into the low-80's when properly optioned. And it will still be new and in short supply so you'll likely have to pay full sticker (if not sticker + add'l dealer markup). It will be tough for me to pay $80K+ for the GS-F when a 550i with nearly as much horsepower and considerably more torque could be purchased in the low-$70's. And I'll likely lease which would probably make the price difference even greater given BMW's favorable residuals and money factors.

Has anyone looked at the pricing differential with the 2012-ish IS350 F Sport and the ISF? That might also give us a rough idea of the price increase? Though I tend to agree with the general sentiment here of a 70k-ish price tag and maybe an additional 8-10k optioned out.

Don't forget a 550i won't have massive 6 piston 15inch 2 piece Brembo brakes or a standard Torque Vectoring Differential.
Heck a 550i won't even have a vanilla limited slip differential (LSD) to help put down all that torque/power efficiently or to help all that mass/power get around a corner in an agile manner.
In my opinion, CONTROL (braking and handling) is far more important than power when it comes to safety and driving enjoyment.
Right there are 2 big ticket items that jump out to me.And that's not even counting all the structural reinforcements/suspension upgrades that a GS-F would have on top of the already capable 4GS chassis that will not show up on the dealer's price checklist. Whereas the chassis of a 550i is the exact same as a 528i except with more nose heaviness due to heavy turbo V8 in front of the firewall.
