Change oil based on time at 4k miles?
2013 GS with build date of 3/13.
I almost have 4k miles on it.
I live less than 5 miles from work and drive the wife's GX on the weekends.
Will the synthetic hold up or start changing oil every 6 months?

Oil changes are once a year or every 10K miles. So if it's been a year, get an oil change regardless of miles.

My commute is basically like yours (6 miles round trip). I change oil on my cars once a year regardless of mileage. Short trips aren't enough to evaporate the condensation in your engine. Moisture degrades oil quite well so I'll change it even if the car has only been driven for 2,000 miles.

I use synthetic oil and change it according to miles which is 5K on several cars, I have never had a problem. The oldest one being a 1991 Lexus LS400 with over 200K miles, I also do the same with a 07 LS460 which has a little over 30K miles, a 08 IS350 with about 25K miles and a 13 GS350 with about 5.5K miles
