Default Windshield Wipers - Check yours

All - I have noticed looking through the role call post that many users have their windshield wipers in snow mode. More than likely the dealer set them there during the check in process and didn't put them back. I'm sure there are a few people that don't realize that there are two modes. Unless it is snowing you should have them tucked cleanly below the hood. Doing so provides a much cleaner look. I have attached a picture from the manual on how to change the position. Hope this helps some people!

I've tried pulling my windshield wipers up with no success. Perhaps I'm not applying sufficient force. I have the Cold Weather Package which includes windshield wiper heating elements. Does this technique work on models so equipped?

All models can be put in this mode. If you look at several of the pics in the newbie section there are Fsports with theirs in snow mode. I have a AWD with cold weather and can put them in this mode. You do have to apply some force and it pops into place.

I hope that ATO1175 doesn't mind, but I used his as an example of what snow mode looks like for a comparison. You can clearly see that the wipers are higher, esp on the passenger side.

ATO1175 love the rims!!!

Thanks for the tip.I didn't realize there was a snow mode.
Just got my GS and it rained the last few times I used it and notice the passenger side wiper is in snow mode position now.

The last 3 models of GS have this option. It does take significant force to go from mode to mode. You will feel a muffled "pop" as the arm re-locks into the new position.

!Make sure you pull the wipers up into "winter mode" before you angle/fold the arm up for blade change, window cleaning, etc...!

I have nice chips in the edge of my hood because some meat-head at the dealership or car wash just yanked up the folding arm without knowing.

I'm having the same issue as Outrage - my wipers are stuck in snow mode and they won't budge when I try to pull them down. I'm leery of pulling too hard for fear of breaking the wiper arm. Any advice you guys can provide on how to accomplish this will be appreciated.

If yours are the same as UK models the wipers are attached to each other, so when you move one wiper to and from snow mode both wipers move, I find it easiest to move the drivers wiper, hold it quite fermley and move it up or down the windscreen depending on if your going to or from snow mode, you do have to be quite forceful with it.

Mine snapped down into the regular position. I did push down on the drivers side (seemed to get more leverage). If you are worried about bending/breaking I would ask the dealership to do it for you.

I'll try it but if it seems like a problem,I'll bring it to the dealer after the winter.Probably be at the 5K service.

Great tip. I think mine is in snow mode because I don't have problem raising it up while cleaning the windshield. I was never able to lift this thing up on my TL and wonder if the TL had this feature as well.

Sorry to hear this. I know it's small and probably not visible by others but you know it is there. I hate when things like this happen. This is why I prefer washing my car myself.

OP: Just went through some pictures. Yep, definitely in snow mode. Thanks for sharing!
