Nav System Messed Up
My Nav system seems to be set to avoid highways. I didn't intentionally set this function and can't even find where such a function would be enabled. Need help.
Thanks.
Thanks.

From the company for some reason, the default setting is to avoid highways. You have to go into setup, then navigation, detailed navigation settings, then declick this option.

Here's a shortcut from the map screen, available while driving ... Route - preferences - highway. At least I think that's the sequence, I'm not in my car right now...

I got it fixed. I couldn't find it in the settings, but as LEXUSGSFO suggested, I was able to change the preferences once I had a destination set in the nav system.
Thanks

I have my setting correct and for some reason it won't take me to my nearest highway entrance. If I go towards it, eventually it re routes onto it. It also happens in reverse when I'm going home. It takes me off at the exit right before. My 2006 Avalon worked better. The entrance/ exit has been there for 15 years. Nothing new... Makes me a little suspect about the quality of routing on this Nav system. Also, they removed the voice command to suspend guidance. What were they thinking? I love my gs350 other than this.

Also wanted to share that the nav routing (and maps) leave a little to be desired. They're by no means terrible, but there's a few times on long trips where I've been better off mapping my route from my phone.

Comparing the NAV in my wife's 07 ES to the 13 GS, I find that Lexus has made significant advanceswith NAV systems over the years. Before I got the GS we would use my 05 TL when travelling because of how much better it was.

I'm coming from over 12 years of driving BMW's. I can tell you that the NAV system in the GS350 is so far superior to the ones in the current BMW models there is no comparison. After setting it up using the menu options under SETUP, it works better and is far superior to any NAV system that I'm aware of.

The map data or routing has issues. There have been times when this system has missed exits that the previous system (Gen 6) had. It almost seems like the map information is incomplete. I use my Garmin as a backup if I go on long trips. It's a shame because Lexus will tell you that their map updates are so expensive because they get their map data from several sources to ensure completeness, but it's just not true. That being said, it's still better than BMW or Mercedes nav systems. Audi offer Google maps now, but it's a subscription service.
Correction - Audi has Google Earth overlays; the map data is not actually Google maps.
