You shouldn't need to but I'll say that the best alignment I've gotten was at the dealership. I'm not sure if they did any recalibration or not. The last alignment I got (not from the dealer) wasn't that great but I corrected it on my own without any computer recalibration.

Different recommendations out there for when to get an alignment; X amount of miles, alignment after a new set of tires, etc.

I originally followed the alignment after new set of tires, so about 25-35k miles for me, and I noticed it never really varied between the last alignment. For my previous car with 100k miles on it when I sold it, the ONLY alignment done on it was at 72k miles and that was needed because the transmission was replaced (all under warranty). I never noticed any pull towards one side, uneven tire wear, or extra suspension wear.

IF I ever do get an alignment on this car, it will be at the dealership.

It is part of the Lexus service manual. But most people don't know or bother with it.

The recalibration is to tell the ABS ECU's the center position of the steering and reset of the yaw sensors for optimal performance in anti-skid / stability control. 2 mins job if you have Techstream.

I think that's the option that also resets recalibrates the AVS if you have it too. I just recently had mine reset and as soon as I drove away I felt the difference better in tighter more responsiveness in the steering and suspension for sure.

Techstream does tell you to place the wheel straight before you do the reset.

There is a active test which checks for the right signal coming back from the AVS modules for troubleshooting. But there is nothing to reset for the AVS. So not sure what you reset to feel the difference? Could it be just the steering zero point calibration which ensures there is equal force/resistance to steering wheel turns.

It was a Calibration reset. I'll ask the Dealer tomorrow.
