My GS is 9 years old, zero servo issues, doubt it will ever fail. I think the problem comes up earlier in the ownership, below 7 years, so would have been addressed if it was an issue.

Doubt anyone would sell Bladest a warranty. Last 7 posts locked, poor guy.

I was following the servo thread and it seems even people with the 2013 have just reported to see odd behaviours with their ACs. I don’t think it’s a widespread issue, and really just comes down to luck. As with anything, probably what you expect to fail don’t and something complexly random does.

In the USA the servos are covered under that recall, so if you had the problem no other warranty was needed. I got it in the mail early last year.

Basically it expired as of Jan 2022, unless you own a newish GS in the last 7 years.

Similar to hybrid battery OEM warranties. They never fail within the warranty period. And if they do, you’re the lucky one as you would have an extended life of the new battery for many more years to come.

The Toyota/Lexus hybrid batteries are known for lasting well over 200k miles, not luck, designed that way. Toyota has been making batteries since first generation Prius early 2000's. There is a post in 3GS forum were the guy drove his 450h to 270k+ miles before he wrecked it and believed it would have lasted longer.

I'm at 119k+ miles zero issues other than the sunroof seal. I plan on driving my car over 230k miles, 5-8 more years. Some people need warranties like they need full coverage insurance, not me. To each their own.

I’m not referring to luck that the battery can last beyond 10 years, that is the norm. I’m referring to good luck if it just fails before Hybrid warranty so you get a new battery pack for even more life as Lexus don’t use refurbished packs for warranty where I’m. That’s the corporate policy, always brand new OEM part.

I would replace mine with a used one lower miles or replace the cells. I've only been to the dealer once and that was for passenger seat airbag recall. Dealership is rip off prices, especially non maintenance items.

Yes the MSRP for the Traction Battery on the GS is USD$4900, street price is closer to $4200. That's not including all the labor to install.

The same Traction Battery sold domestically in Japan is about half that price, so you guys are getting ripped off by corporate pricing in the US.

In the mother load 4th Gen GS Servo problem thread, there are already those who were denied the coverage by Lexus for unknown reasons even on the newish model.

That’s a shame, as it’s a very labour intensive fix when out of pocket.

I think extended warranty is a must. I purchased extended warranty and definitely got my money's worth. I can't remember how much I paid for my warranty on my GS but in Dec of 2021, 3 door locks went out, 1 TPMS went out so I took it to the deal in Jan of 2022. When I was there, they informed me that my front struts were leaking including one of my rear one in addition to the issues mentioned above. I got an estimate and it was close to $10K for all the repairs however, my service advisor my extended warranty was still effective and will expire on end of Feb 2022. I was really surprised AND HAPPY. I was under the impression that it expired but it still had month left. They repaired all of them under the warranty. I will tell you that Lexus is very very reliable car as I also owned SC 430 in the past which I drove up to $178K miles but you never know. I definitely think extended warranty is worth it. I had it on my SC430 also and got my moneys worth and also when I had MB CLS 550, my air matics/suspension went out 1 week after my warranty expired. After arguing with MB USA, they covered 75% of the cost. It would have costed me $12K to replace all the air matics and its related parts. I end up paying like $3K which is still better than 12K. Also had other parts replaced during my warranty duration.

You are thousands ahead! Throw in an amplifier, head unit, NAV system, or other complex electronic equipment and you would've easily been well over ten thousand ahead - far ahead of your one-time extended warranty premium.

/\ This. Is what I was saying.

I already recouped more than my Extended service contract cost with miles and years still to go. The key is getting the right coverages with the proper years and miles coverage along with the covered items. Repairs are not predictable. Some Dealers are now selling 3,4,5,6 year Warranty's with Unlimited mileage believe it or not.

To me though, it goes back to the point that dealerships have inflated costs for labor. If each of the items you mentioned failed, the price for each part isn't outrageous (3 struts ~$1000; 3 door locks ~$1000; TMPS; ~$100). These are wear and tear items that can certainly fail after 8yrs of ownership of your 2014. Its likely less than $2000 in OEM parts. Its the labor rates that are unbelievable.

The service advisors are coached to make us think that our cars require all kinds of special handling, care, knowledge, know-how, expertise, and fixes. I can't imagine it cost $8000 in labor to install your 3 struts, 3 door locks and the tpms sensor. For them to say it was $10,000 in parts/labor for those items - it feels a bit off on their part.

Typically failing struts, tpms, etc are excluded as wear and tear type problems and even though the warranties cover them, dealerships sometimes can be sneaky and try to interpret things in their favor. Nonetheless, I'm glad the Lexus dealership honored the warranty you had in place but that 10k estimate would have had me wondering what on earth are they charging for labor!

Jerry Johnson is who I recently (3-4 months ago) bought my Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty from for my Lexus GS 450h. Jerry was a pleasure to work with.

I hope this helps.
This dude is awesome.. just got off the phone with Jerry and he quoted me some great prices for my GS-F.. basically 1k less than what my local dealer quoted me earlier today.
