I can dish it and take it. Can you? I just call it like I see it.

If you don't know...... you don't know.

Akebono are of very, very high quality and they last a long time. I run the Akebono Performance series compound on mine and they don't fade at speed and stop like crazy.

I'll probably go get a brake flush soon then. Curious how much are you guys paying to get that done if you're not doing it yourself.

Dealership quoted me $120 last time I was there. I'm going to do this next time I change my oil.

Need mine done too. I'm going to call Toyota tomorrow to see what they say the cost is? I don't know why every 4th Gen GS I see under the hood always looks like it the brake fluid is dirty and needs changing.

Aftermarket pads on my 18 RWD I installed when new and I have zero issues with my brakes. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I went to a local brake shop and got ceramic pads for the front and paid
$110. The new pads are working great....

Or, one of the ones who didn't buy into the the Factory pads that squeal, are the only ones that work? I use to do only the Factory pads till I tried Akebono years ago I switched over. The Factory pads wear out so fast its not even funny.

Is your GS a F Sport?

Yes. Too much dust from the original pads is the only reason I changed them.

I have heard good things about the EBC Ultimate pad. Compound Supposed to be OEM spec. Just saying. I have some NAPA high end pads I installed months ago. They actually don't squeak at all. I installed with pepper grease in proper contact points and back of pad. But man, they sound like crap. No squeak just terrible grating sound. Almost like metal to metal but there not.

I am happy for anyone who has good luck with whatever pad they use. I used Textar, one of the very best pads money can buy. Squealed like a pig!
Lexus did not create the TSB for fun, ya know.
Please post your posts.
Again, good luck.

"You know what grinds my gears?" Peter Griffin.

Anyway, are those NAPA pads semi metallic or ceramic? I used to use semi metallic pads a life time ago when money was tight, and those ones were the "best" I could afford and I can still remember the metal to metal grinding noise. Hated it.

Since you live in CO, you will be the ideal person to give us all a feedback about the non-OEM ones and squeaking. In majority of cases, or at least in my case, the squeaking only happens when the temps dip low, but only for the first 10 or so yards. On warmer days, say 50+ degrees, like it was this morning here in MD, there is no squeaking from the factory installed OEM pads.

Great timing on this post. My wear indicator has been squealing at me and the dealer confirmed I need new pads and recommended turning the rotors. To me this sounds like the perfect opportunity to replace pads and rotors myself instead. Where are we buying OEM parts these days? Not wanting to go aftermarket for anything on this car, at least, not yet.

I have been buying from Bell Lexus in North Scottsdale, AZ. They usually have some sort of deal going on, either on the part price, or on shipping.
