All GS450h models are RWD.

I suspect my new 2018 450h likely does have the original engine oil, but I plan to replace it myself with a squirt or two from an old can of WD40 I found laying around beside an old can of STP with Richard Petty's picture on it.

I plan on tweaking the 450h battery to soup it up a little. I have a bunch of batteries that I think still have some life in them.

I hear you can take a couple of the battery packs they charge cell phones with and get 2 extra miles of range per pack.

I'm sure peasodos will know for sure. I believe his is not a luxury or F Sport trim.
You'd have to confirm that with an owner of a 2017 GS 450h non-F Sport to be sure. Lexus has been known to make some mistakes in their specifications and their advertising from time-to-time.

Knuckles - I knew you'd come through with a hot tip for me to try.

But, if the 2017 non-F Sport 450h came standard with AVS then why would Lexus advertise the AVS on the F Sport adder package?

I think it's a mistake and the 450h non-F Sport (for all 4GS years) does not have AVS. But, you'd have to confirm that opinion with an owner of a 2017 GS 450h non-F Sport to be sure. Hey so how does the 18 450h ride compared to the stiff set up the 13 had? I know there is a weight difference too. More smooth Lexus like I would guess?

I'm sorry for not answering right away, Charley95. I was having too much fun goofing around I guess.

I think JDR76 is correct that all GS 450h models are RWD. To the best of my knowledge the F Sport package could be added or the Luxury package could be added but not the option for AWD. I strongly suspect the GS 450h's CVT is not adaptable for a AWD transaxle. And likely the traction battery may take up some of the room needed too.

#NotPeasodos, but AVS was standard on the GS450h (at least the U.S. model) from 2013. It's a shock absorber control unit that sends info to the ECU and adjusts the suspension in all four corners of the car - I think the way Lexus listed it in their spec sheet is confusing. It's not just applicable to the rear. When you shift to S+ mode, you see a visual diagram of all four corners of the vehicle's suspension being adjusted on the 12.3" display pop up. You can also feel the difference when going over a bumpy road as S+ mode stiffens up up the suspension.

As mentioned, all GS450h models are only available in RWD and they all have the Sport+ on the mode selector.

The 2015 GSh featured the F-Sport package, which added the Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system with Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) - provides an integration of DRS, Electric Power Steering and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS).

Hope that helps,

So unfortunately just getting around to do the trans drain fill today at about 38K and I wish I wouldn’t have waited. Look at the pics of the drained fluid compared to the fresh trans fluid.

I can’t imagine it getting this dark (kind of purple-ish) in color in just 38K. Scratching my head.

It will look like that again in about 5,000 miles. Unless you completely drained everything, there's more than half the fluid still floating around inside of the case. All you really need to do is get the additive package boosted and 3-4 quarts of new fluid will do that.

I drained and refilled 4 times today.
it progressively got better but nowhere near where I’d like to see it.
I am still beside myself trying to understand how in less than 40K it can be that dark.
In a week or two I’ll do another set of drain and refills and I’ll report back.

Don't look at the color of the ATF to determine its quality (i.e.condition) or effectiveness. ATF turns really dark very quickly - that doesn't mean anything negative. No more so than your dirty feet means anything negative about you!

Lol, what do you mean dirty? That is my natural skin color.
Just kidding, I said to myself after posting the pic, I probably should have cropped my dirty feet out it the pic. Now I know I should have lol.

Yardwork and car work will shower after.

Still waiting for the dang transmission temp to drop below 115F. It’s so dang hot here in SoCal that I have no idea when I’ll be able to adjust the fluid level, maybe midnight.

How many years? What year is your car? Break in metals and other substance.

I have a 2013 with 42k now. Did the exchange 3 separate times. Each time 2 exchanges and a short drive to mix and flush each time. Filter once. The exchange rate 1 time gives you less than 20% new fluid. If I remember correctly b/c had a chart he posted with the exact percent of new vs old on a drain and fill.

2019 with 38K on it. Appears to never have been done before. Bought it last year CPO with 31K.

Yes I remember doing my wife’s 2007 GS350 and I first did it at 120K. So black took many sessions of drain refills to get the fluid red again. And did notice the shifting was smoother than before.

But some A-hole hit my wife’s 07 and ran and she could not catch up to him and insurance totaled the car so we bought this one.
