I just scratched the crap out of my (til now) pristine nav screen cover. I was using my laptop for a zoom call (parked), and the edges of it came in contact with the screen and scratched it. Does anyone know if that's a DIY replacement, and/or have any insight into how I might accomplish this task? thanks.
Your Lexus dealership should have a replacement screen cover in stock. Be warned it's not cheap, and it's kind of a pain to install. You might want to call your dealer to see how much they will charge you to install a new one. There is some information on the RC-F forum on how to replace the screen cover if you want to install it yourself.
thanks--I guess I should probably look into some plastic polish first, see if I can get the scratches out that way before I tear things apart (it it's invasive).
eBay has replacement displays/screens for under $500 - a far cry from the thousands the dealer will want. I don't believe they sell just the outer-clear cover of the display unit for the GS but here's someone who upgraded to the 2016 display selling his 2013/2014 compatible display:
The plastic cover on the display is removable, so you can just swap it over to yours, all years of the 4GS have the same exact screen dimensions/plastic cover so you can swap from any year. Then you can sell the rest of the screen with your cover and probably get your money back. I know because I changed my screen/nav to 2016 and swapped my 2013 plastic cover to it.
Lexus charges $700 for just this plastic cover that in reality should cost no more than $50. The RHD cover is $500, lol but it's pointing the wrong direction. I replaced the plastic cover on my instrument panel(ordered from japan, much cheaper) and it was not very expensive.
