2013-2016 worth the upgrade?
the wrap is removable and the rest of the stuff I did are factory options like the led headlights.
I don’t think the full screen maps and wireless CarPlay I added would decrease the resale value. In any case it’s reversible.

Yeah im looking to stay 30 or less so a new one is out. And honestly id rather have a 2016 GS-F for the same money as a new one. Neither of the two Lexus dealers in Nashville have any GS's new or used. The one closest to me had a 2019 GS-F for a while but it was 65k so....
Funny how the unicorn GS-F get thrown around here until the reality of paying 50k for a used car with miles gets real.
Same for all high end btw.
I suppose what is the spread for selling your car to get to 30k? And What does that buy you at what mileage? Then consider if its 10-15,000 is it a money thing or being bored? Can’t put a price on wanting a new car. one can take. Few grand and fix every thing and feel good about another 100k miles and be good.
We all want the newer what ever. If so, and you can afford it, do it. Is it worth it? The newer style is subjective. But if you can’t get it out of your head do it. We will offer advice likley based on our own advocation to what we have done. It validates our decisions. The dudes that hyper modify find great value in their quest. The more they put into the car both time and money the more bonded they are to it. Stock dudes like me are less attached emotionally but does not mean I don’t want “More”.
There is no right or wrong here. You can find a financial justification and connect the dots in that direction.
“Price is only an issue in the absence of quality”. Your going to have to sell you car first,, then enjoy the “hunt” of finding the right car that checks all the boxes at the right price. There is the fun part for many of us. But to find a suitable trade in price on a car you “have to have” is a very rare crossroad event. Yes, emotions play into it .
I’m driving a Lexus because my beloved BMW pissed me off too may times! Funny thing is I was not excited about my 2020 as it was a lateral move for me but I am really enjoying this ride now. Its not “special”, its AWD and I understand I gave up some enthusiast qualities but we do have a fun sports car 2 seater “third car”. I got it knowing it was soon to be extinct but that after 7 years of build its stellar reputation was very attractive.
I have read the 2016’s had some small blips in quality. It was the first year of the refresh. Again, “small blip” but thats in contrast to 2017 and 2018.

@bigbadron I think the most significant jump you can make is going from a pre refresh non F sport GS to a 2016+ GS F...that might make the difference worthwhile because of the engine, the F tuning, exterior and interior. The used car market is hot right now (not as hot as maybe a month or two ago) but you'll get top dollar for your 2013 if you trade it in.
If you find a GS F in the right price point (e.g. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...4240/overview/), trading in your current GS should bring the cost down to your $30k budget. The GS makes it so hard because even with 100k miles and the itch to get into something else, it probably still runs like a champ making it hard to part with!

OP, were you planing on adding 30k or that was the price of the car you would want net of trade in?
For me personally its hard to spend 43k on a car with 60k miles on it. For the most part I get in the car, go somewhere, then come home. That GS-F is a beast and I don’t question its value regarding the experience.
I stayed way from M cars for the same reason. Brakes, Tires, tune ups are horrific. Expect the “F” to be an easier repair.
Color aside the only negative on that car, the same with others it he one piece bucket seat style just looks like it’s trying to hard and gives off a “Boy racer” vide. I know its all about being on the track but thats not where I go.

All that aside, the best experience i got from upgrading from 15 to a 17 model year was those triple led headlamps. Those things will change your life. Best money well spent. Can't tell how many times that feature came in handy even in emergency situations. A quick flicker to high beam would have other drivers stop immediately.
Can't believe how far they lit the road.
Besides the new engine, gear ratios, cosmetic differences and whatever, i put my money on the upgraded headlamps.
