I also asked another big vendor and they said they do not have a part number from KYB that would fit the REAR setup with AWD and AVS. KYB7240000- Rear Shock Absorber; RWD w/ Adaptive variable suspension (from Rock Auto)
I wish it was easier to find out, but I haven't had much luck. Might have to go with OEM, but i am going to wait a week or so to see if I can find out more.
It doesn't make sense that they would make front and rear for RWD and only front for AWD, somebody must have an old part number. Maybe the factory is awaiting some components and that's why the part is not in the catalog.

thats very true. They make an AWD front compatible with AVS. Will wait and see what they come up with. Really hope an AWD rear compatible with AVS comes up soon. Although, it would show on Rock Auto wouldn’t it?
Wow, I saw the part on shock warehouse and it literally is just a shock absorber. I was expecting something more "fancy" as I have changed out front struts on vehicles a handful of times, on front wheel drive vehicles. Not on the Lexus with the RWD, so I have never replaced rear shocks. Looks kind of easy if you can get to it without ripping the car apart. What makes it AVS since it looks like a regular shock?
Reporting back after a few weeks of driving. I used a G-force logging app and set my phone screen up in front of the nav screen and recorded the same stretch of road. It has speed humps (large arched design) and took them at 25 mph. The graphs below are based on one hardest speed bump.
I can confirm these shocks adjust the dampening based on the driving modes.
Looking at the graphs below, the first graph is in Normal mode, with max up and down readings of 12.5 and 5.2 respectively. The second graph is in Sport+ where max up and down readings are 12.8 and 3.33 respectively.
This tells me that the larger swing (from highest to lowest points) = dampening is more aggressive = bigger impact.
My last test is to review this same data before I swapped them to see if there is a similar change from Normal to Sport+ with the OEM shocks. Hopefully I can get that information posted here soon.
KYB sells AVS compliant shocks and Struts. I have them going in my 14 F-sport RWD
Great info about KYB "Gas-a-just" struts being a good OEM replacement. Ty CouveGS for sharing all of the information.
Part Numbers if you want to/need to replace all components in a RWD 4GS with Active Variable Suspension (AVS):
Front Left Strut: KYB 7210001 [$92.53]
Front Right Strut: KYB 7210000 [$92.53]
Rear Struts (you'll need 2 if replacing both rears): KYB 7240000 [$104.91 each]
How did you find out or noticed that the rear is blown and needs to be replaced?
I have the same model ‘13 and my left rear shock was blown too (at 120K miles). I noticed when I saw a small puddle of clear fluid behind the LR tire on my garage floor.
I thought there was no noticeable difference in ride quality so I did not replace them until I was annoyed by a noisy bad rear strut mount that started around 130K miles.
Four new OEM shocks, mounts, (and replacement of bad stabilizer bar links) has everything smooth and quiet again.
I have a 2013 AWD F Sport with AVS. Can any of you provide me the correct part number for the rear shocks? I've read some contradictory information where some sites say the KYB 5540013 supports AWD and AVS and other say it does not support AWD. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

See the OEM chart below with AWD rear shock absorbers [dampers] for the appropriate build date.
This chart below is only for Luxury and F Sport, which use the same suspension part numbers, though F Sports does have 4 wheel steering etc.
