Hues, not sure if you ever got a key or pursued this option. Depending where in Florida you are, I have techstream and I have added and removed keys on my 2014 Es350. If you were in the Orlando area, I could meet you sometime to help you out. It would cost a coffee and breakfast sandwich at Micky D’s.

I tried this on my 2013 GS 450h with the GS-F key and it won't pair with my car. The function gets through the first step (making it beep with the original key) but when I hold the key card in front of the start button the key light just goes solid red and won't pair. Not sure what's going wrong...

You have to pair the key via Techstream. It's the only method of successfully pairing the key.

Tclark is it a brand new key? If used it may need to be re-virginized, meaning have the old car it was last programmed to erased. There are eBay sellers who will do it for 20 buck-ish dollars. I have programmed a used fob to my 2014 es350, no problems, it was a used fob, guaranteed by the seller to be re-virginized. I don’t have a credit card key programmed to my car but if the right price comes along I may go for it as well.

Yes, I bought it brand new from Discount Parts Monster using the link Peasodos posted. All the FCC stuff matches up exactly with what he said. I can get into programming mode using Techstream but it won't accept the new key. It clearly recognizes that the key card is there (because the immobilizer light goes solid red when the key card gets close) but the car won't register it. Could it be a weak battery even though it's new?

It could be a weak battery, are you making sure to only have 1 key fob in the car at a time? Meaning you make sure all other keys are 6 feet away from the car as your adding or programming keys?

Yes, as far as I can tell I'm following the instructions to a tee.

How many smart keys are currently assigned? I’m allowed like 7 I think. It might be worth getting new battery, a brand new virgin credit card key should program readily

It says 2 are programmed and that's how many I have, so I definitely have room to program another key. It really makes no sense to me since I've tried all the common troubleshooting stuff.

I’d agree, it sounds like you’re performing the correct procedure. If it’s not a weak battery, it might be a non compliant key card for your vehicle or defective card.

Ooooohhhh, one more thing, the new key doesn’t have a plastic tag or cover over the battery you have to remove for the initial use does it? You know like a few remote controls I’ve used for car stereos, they had a pull tab which removed a plastic strip/insulator to prv not the battery from going dead while in the box while unused.

Are you 100% sure the GSF card key is new? If it's been paired to another vehicle you won't be able to program to your car.

There was no pull-tag on it, but it doesn't look like one of those would make sense with this type of battery enclosure. I'm not 100% sure it's new because I bought it from Discount Parts Monster, but they said it was new. Is there any way to check before getting them involved?

Did you pay new part price? Like 230 bucks or so? If it was that price or better it is priced as a new key. If it was seemingly brand new, in bubble wrapped oem packaging, you might want to put in a brand new battery just so you can rule out that problem, then you either have to have a locksmith see if it is assigned to a vehicle electronically and Virginize it or start your procedure for a refund from parts monster
