ItzFilyO - Well with a mandatory 'stay at home' lockdown for the entire state of California you shouldn't be hitting any potholes for a while. Just don't let your battery discharge!

Jdpdata, I had the same thing happen twice. The first time was a pothole and the second was when I had to hit the brakes hard and swerve because somebody stopped suddenly in the fastlane. I have a 2013 F-Sport RWD with 19 inch tires. Since then I replaced them with 245/40/R19 Michelins up front and 275/35ZR19 in the rear. Tire hardness has to be at least 98Y and the tire splitting on potholes will end.

That is the tire's load and speed rating, not the tire's tread (wear) hardness.

Were you running stock tires and rims ? I popped (2) 245/4/0/19 a month apart in potholes in NJ. Still trying to figure out if there anything I can do better since this is the stock tire and rim size for the F sport.

Only way to prevent this is 18" rims. I think 18" are the perfect balance for the GS.
