Default Tires

Greetings,

My RWD 4GS has about 70k on it and I'm due for tires. I'm in Southern California and looking for a quiet tire that I can get 50k-ish out of mileagewise. I was quoted about $960 for four Michelin Pilot Sports and a 4-wheel alignment at a reputable independent tire shop close by. That kind of seems fair to me. What does everybody else think?

I guess I'm just curious to hear feedback of which tires work best on our cars. I really want silence while on the highway and I do drive "spirited," let's just say, so I don't want to lose much in the way of handling, either.

Thanks in advance!

That sounds really reasonable. I think I paid $1300 for pilot sport 4S, 245/35/20, and 275/30/20. What size are your tires? Maybe I should change up my tire shop...

damn that's a deal. I paid about $1k for brand new Toyo tires for my GS350 F Sport.

Although that is a great price I don't think you will get 50K out of the tires maybe 35-40K is this an F-Sport.

I was actually wrong - that price actually applies to the Michelin Premier A/S and not the Pilot Sports. The car is straight RWD and non F-Sport. Are those worth a damn and will they complete with the Bridgestone Turanzas I have on the car now? These only lasted about 30k with religious 5k-interval rotations and they're now about $325 a tire. No thanks.

And if you're in LA, I've been dealing with Tucker Tire in Azusa for years and they've never steered me wrong. Great outfit.

Thanks for everybody's input!
