Default GPS SD microchip location

Hello everyone. New member and my first post. We have a new (to us) 2015 GS350. Not the 350 sport or ML etc. Just the 350. Our GPS map is out dated and we would like to update it. When I select the Map update the message displayed is to replace the GPS Sd microchip at anytime. Problem is, I can't locate where the chip is located. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The navigation map updates can only be purchased at your local Lexus dealership. Its usually between $200 and $300. I think some models with the SD cards can be installed outside the dealership (Gen 8 MicroSD updates). There is a card slot right above the hazard button.

AJLex19,

Thanks for the info. I'll have to head up to the dealership this weekend and get them to do the update.

Alright. Spent some time in the heat today searching the dash of our Lexus GS350 and finally located where the GPS map chip is SUPPOSED to go. It is behind a door just above the Hazard light button on the dash. Lift the door up and there it was. There is NO LABEL on this door and it blends in perfectly with the dash trim. Once opened, I used a strong light and checked the chip slot. Didn't see the chip in there but although outdated the map is functional so I guess the chip is in there. I also didn't see any button to eject the chip. We've lived here for 20+ years and I pretty much know several way to get anywhere in town. If we head north to Atlanta I'll probably need the GPS then. Just I thought I'd post this in case there are any other 350GS owners having the same difficulty.

Nick. That is exactly where mine is. But when the door flap is down, it blends in so well with the dash face that it is invisible. So...do I have to get the updated chip from our Lexus dealer or can I get one on line?

The chip is only available from a dealer. I would however strongly advise you consider
installing Lexus Enform App Suite (not 2.0) and sign in. This free app will bring the up
to date information and voice recognition of your phone to work with the native Lexus
Navigation system. Plan an itinerary before going to the car in the App and when the
phone pairs up with your GS you can just answer Yes to the dialog question "Do you
want to coordinate your phone with the car?" The real plus is when driving, you open
the Lexus Enform App Suite before pressing the steering wheel Talk button and now
you are using your phone's power to look points of interest up. Drops right into the
map and you're off!
