The GS has dual injection (port and direct, hence the noisy HPP) whereas the Camry is only port injected. Gives more torque apparently.

The current Camry V6 also features dual injection. It's only 10 less HP and 13 less torque than the GS350!

And it has an 8 speed transmission which you only get in the RWD GS. AWD's get the 6 speed.

They are hitting it out the park with the Camry for sure. But it and the ES getting that performance boost. Plus there will be a TRD Camry in 2020

Well yea, and the Camry (and ES) are FWD, which is why they also get the 8 speed.

Has anyone driven the Camry? The specs are what they are and the car is admittedly quick, but none of that power and torque is available like on the GS. Freeway speeds, maybe, but with FWD, you just don’t get the same power curve.

I actually think Toyota really stepped it up with the Camry exterior, but interior is just boring. Drivetrain...depends. It really isn’t near as exciting as on paper.

One of my friends has it as a rental and he said its slow, he said its no GS at all. I do like the styling though, they look way better in the sport model.

It’ll move on the freeway, but it’s still plagued with all the same issues any portly FWD struggles with. The second the wheel spins, the nanny kicks in and it’s over. If you stab it in motion, you have to grab the wheel tight or end up in the ditch. Toyota’s front wheel dominant AWD only minimally solves the issue. It’s anything but a performance sedan!

Agreed, I test drove one, though it was before I got my GS, and love the exterior, but interior felt cheap, especially coming from my '16 ES. I love all the cool tech in it, but it felt cheaper in every way. Driving was not that more impressive then my '16 ES, even with the better power numbers the Camry had.

The new TRD model admittedly looks pretty sick, but not sure they will do anything else to make it 'better' than the XSE.
