My car is having intermittent starting problems. It cranks but has trouble turning over. I've changed out the battery and it's still having that problem, so I'm assuming it's the starter that is going bad.
I dont think it is a good idea to keep slapping parts on the car in hopes of getting a fix. What I would do is do some simple diagnostics, grab a volt meter and measure the battery, if that good I would measure the voltage at the starter. If the starter voltage is low, then your issue is more likely electrical.
When you replaced the battery did you tear apart the battery terminals and cleaned them well/sanded them? To me is sounds like corroded battery terminals or a bad ground somewhere. Lexus GS starters are very strong and reliable!
It doesn’t sound like the starter if it’s cranking strong. The starter only cranks. So if it’s cranking, nothing is wrong with the starter. The motor isn’t firing up for another reason.
