Default Why no Apple car play...

in the 18/19 GS? According to Lexus it might offer it in some other models at a later date but, not the GS. It would be nice to have it.

I believe the GS/LX/RX are on the second oldest version of Lexus Infotainment, while the oldest being the GX. Those models will not have any sort of update until the vehicle is redesigned or refreshed.

GROM VL2 is your only option if you want to add CarPlay/Android Auto. Another is a Chinese brand forgot the name, but I don't trust them.

Toyota is late to the game. They wanted to keep control of the operating system and especially the revenue streams from the infotainment system. But whomever Toyota is using to write their OS simply cannot keep up with the small armies of iOS and android software designers.

GROM does Apple CarPlay? I thought it was Android only....

The hardware apparently doesnt support it, and of course software. Lots of behind the scenes including who has the right to document the data collection those two front ends keep
