You would've been also been giving up the power trunk and some of the safety/convenience tech as well! GS F didn't get all-speed radar cruise control & the updated Steering Assist/Lane Keep Assist until model year 2018. The 2016 & 2017 had the older high-speed radar cruise control which would disengage below 20 or so and the Lane Keeping system is also less advanced/capable (I think it was more of a lane departure warning system rather than an active steering system). I think these systems were the same as found in the IS/RC which means it also doesn't have the capability to auto emergency brake to a stop and would only warn you & apply partial braking, but still let you ram into the car/pedestrian ahead.

Really weird the way Lexus does things! I've gone through the same thought process many times myself.

I’m so much more at peace with this color when it’s clean.

About 5 weeks in and 700 miles on the clock. Happy to report an increase of about 2mpg over the 15 GS.

I also noticed the other day that the rear diffuser on the 19 seems to be a gloss black, whereas it was sort of a metallic graphite gloss finish on the 15. I think I liked it a little better on the 15.

A little update at the 5 month mark. Sitting at 2700 miles.

It's everything I loved about my 15, and more.
  • Not to be too braggy (I know, I know), but the triple beam headlights are amazing.
  • Love the HUD.
  • I've gotten used to the new nav system.
  • Car still feels quieter than my 15.
  • I'm finally used to the digital gauges.
  • Getting about 2 mpg better than my 15. I will be taking it on its first road trip soon, so I'm interested to check the mileage on that trip.
  • Love the all-speed DRCC.
  • Less impressed with the lane centering feature. It does a reasonable enough job on most highways, but it can't handle very much of a bend before it drifts into the other lane. I usually keep it off.
  • Power trunk opening is soooooo sloooow....
  • If I were to do it again, I would have purchased Atomic Silver. My 15 was AS, and I wanted something different this time, but now I wish I would have just stuck with it.
  • Windows tinted, ceramic coating applied, front license plate mount in the trash.
All in all, I still love it. I definitely intend to keep this one for the long haul.

Sounds awesome. I like both of your car colors, old and new. I have Liquid Platinum and it is kinda boring to me... but I bought used, so couldn't get exactly the color I wanted that easily. Are the triple beam headlights adaptive like the HIDs on luxury package GSes? That's easily my favorite or second favorite feature on my car.

Thank you. And no, the triple LEDs in the GS are not adaptive.

Nice car and nice color. Your front license plate mount threw in trash? lol

HUD is interesting in the lately model

The color is rare to get. I had seen the Smokey mica '18 GS 350 F-Sport but missed it when I got back from Southern California last week.

My next car is either '16 or '17 GS-350 F-Sport.

Good update JDR! I find the LKA more of a hassle and don't use it either. Now if it was like the Super Cruise on the Cadillac I'd love it.

I keep the LKA off as well. Rather than maintain travel in the lane, it just seems to slowly bounce you from side to side. I understand it works better in rush hour traffic, but luckily, stop and go traffic is no longer an issue I have to deal with.

Glad you’re enjoying your GS. I recently did a road trip, 376 miles round trip, on a single tank of gas, about 40 miles in the suburbs, the rest highway, filled up with 15.9 gallons. Trip computer showed 24.7 mpg, which was about 1 mpg higher than actual (actual miles / gallons). I shared this with the wifey and she promptly called me a nerd.
