They will, just be VERY CAREFUL with your speed and stopping. You probably won't get stuck, but don't depend on them for much
stopping bite. I drove an entire winter with mine just fine.

If you have F-sport AWD you don't have bigger brakes. Our brakes are the same size as the Base GS.

Whatever you do beef up the profile/sidewall of the tire, don't be running P235s.... If you hit potholes with the stock OEM rim/tire setup at any decent speed you WILL BEND the rims. I bent 3 out of 4 over one winter. I decided to keep mine off the road most of this winter instead of go through that BS again.

Are you removing all the plastic panels from underneath the car? Pretty much the entire underside is covered. I think with the under protection this car already has, it would be a waste of time and money.

 

I run LFA 18" reps on Toyo Observe Garit KX at 235/45R18. Maintaining that stock height gap!

 

I see a lot of people running 18s for their winter setup. I was thinking of 225/55R17. Is that too small?

 

17" won't clear your big brakes if you have the F-sport model, but if you have the non-f-sport, they should be good!

 

I was informed earlier in this thread that the AWD F-Sport models don't have the big brakes? I thought they had 14" brakes too, or is 14" the normal size brakes?

 

Thats correct - AWD F Sport models do NOT have the larger brakes/rotors. Base model GS's up to premium package, lux and AWD F-Sports all share the same brake size.

Here is an image of a GS I took that pulled up next to me a few years back with OEM Lexus 17" wheels offered on base model GS's:

 

So 17x7.5 or 17x8 wheels and 225/50R17 tires should work just fine, right?

If I recall correctly, the GS did have a trim that came with 17x8 wheels... Right?

Thanks for the information! I always thought the AWD F-Sport had the 14" brake too.

The 17" wheels kind of look dinky on the car haha. I may go with 18s.

 

No rubbing at all with AWD, but I'd say this is about the maximum diameter you can run. With the wheel turned about half lock, the inner edge of the tire just barely clears the front of the wheel well by less than 1cm.

The 225/45 increases diameter from stock about half an inch.

 

I believe it sets the front/rear bias on the transfer case to 50F/50R instead 30F/70R.

I also confirmed by putting it in manual mode that if you hit the Snow button, it will move to 2nd gear.

 

I have a can of Chassis Saver sitting for the past few months. Been too lazy to get under the car and scrape off the existing rust and spray this on... maybe after New Years...

 

I have a set of 19" Michelin X-Ice XI3 on Niche Misano wheels that should work well for current GSs. They're off my RCF so caliper clearance definitely won't be an issue. In as-new condition - PM me for info.

 

Consider your TPMS sensors cloned if getting a second set of wheels. This way you do not need to deal with reprogramming TPMS IDs each time the wheels are charged.
