So I've decided the car will be towed to the Lexus dealership at his expense & I'll be driving his BMW while in the shop since my back up car (GTO doesn't have air & kills me on gas)

Wow! What an emotional thread. At first I'm like "wtf", a Lexus that won't drive? Then I'm like "oh no!" oil in the wrong place, then I'm like "phew" problem identified, then I'm laughing my *** off as I read the OP's username and see the first image above and can only imagine the boyfriend getting kicked where the sun don't shine... then I'm like "oh no!" once again thinking he may drain the oil and refill with dirty tranny fluid, then I'm like "phew" she'll take the advice and have the car towed... then I'm laughing once again that she's taking his BMW, then totally rolling at both the question of whether she's now single, and again with the vision of the kicking where the sun don't shine... what an emotional rollercoaster. I need a beer and bed.

Ok, seriously, glad all worked out. Have to love how helpful this forum is, and humorous as well!

We may never know the outcome, but I'm guessing the boyfriend will be owing sweet 'Sunshineb' about $500 for the towing charge, the oil change and the transmission refill and testing. And, he won't even get a chance to have any snacks or drinks at the dealership.

How does a BMW owner change a Lexus' oil? He doesn't, he is used to a BMW just burning it and just adding more.

Chalk it up to a simple mistake as not everyone knows the engine drain bold is behind panels that need to be removed. Glad no damage was done where she drove the car with little to no ATF and 12 quarts of oil in the engine!

well, allow me to address the elephant in the room. bf here to fill in the blanks. First and foremost. At the end of the day all I can do is swallow this humble pie because I honestly just screwed up. No other way around that. Mistake #1. I researched changing oil on a GS 350, not an F. Mistake #2 after cutting grass all day and having a few beers on my day off I did this change in a dark basement with low light. (all my LED lights are at my old house)
So, I removed the oil filter door. Looked for the 14mm drain plug. In the video there was no skid plate. F Sport had a skid plate. But there was no mention of removing a skid plate. I found a 14mm drain plug but did have the thought "damn that's a bit far from the oil filter" But did look around for another 14mm drain plug. I even had the thought of going ahead and dropping the skid plate which dear God I now wished I would have done. Brake the 14mm loose and let it drain. It was pretty dark so I really couldn't tell the color of the fluid other than it looked to be dark instead of a light red tint. Get everything buttoned back up and get the car back on the ground. I add the Mobil 1, and before starting the car I checked the stick. Oil looked fresh and what's weird was the oil was spot on. I start the car and let it run for about a minute. Check it again. Still spot on. In my mind, I'm done. What's for dinner babe?
So now let's jump ahead to the next morning. She busts in saying "the car want move in drive!" and I'm still waking up thinking wtf!? So I go downstairs and I check. Sure enough, reverse it will move but in drive it was saying "NOT TODAY SATAN!!" So I pop the hood and check the oil. NOW it's showing FAAAAR above the level on the stick. *it was in this moment; he knew he had f*&^$d up."
I didn't have the heart to tell her what was going on. So we had to break out the ole' Goat and let her drive the play car to work. (stage II clutch, no A/C) So needless to say mama wasn't happy.
Now, to touch on some of the other comments. I'm not just a Bimmer guy. I'm a full blown car/truck enthusiast. Lifted, lowed, import, domestic, new school or old. I've built them all. I'm just on a euro kick now. (3rd BMW to be exact) I'm actually a HUGE Lexus fan. The GS 350 F was picked out by me. She had her heart on the IS 250 F Sport. It's just as luck would have it the very car she wanted sold the day we went to get it. And there sat that sexy white GS 350 F Sport just waiving at me. And lucky for me, she fell in love with it too. I'm pretty sure I love that car as much as her if not more. So no fellas, this was not on purpose. * i don't have a death wish*
Now, on to the how are we going to fix it? I'm very involved in the car scene where we are from. So I've got plenty of contacts. After calling a few master tech buddies at Lexus dealerships. Sunday one of my buddies is coming through with his trailer (with front mount winch) to load up Betty White (it's what we call her) and take her to the Lexus dealership next to where he works (Porsche dealership) and he's going to add the necessary amount of World Class Trans Fluid. Tonight I will be draining the oil (dropping the skid plate this go around) and putting yet again fresh Mobil 1 0W-20W with yet another new filter. Just to make her happy. If it took me having it towed somewhere and paying through the nose to fix this, then so be it. It was my mistake.
I've caught hell from my car buddies, my girl, my co-workers, and I've read the comments here. And I honestly can't blame the first one of you for said comments. I told her this morning. I would have said the same thing. And FYI gentlemen, she's still spoken for. On a side note though, the couch is no tempurpedic. So whoever crashes on our couch. It's made to look pretty. Not to sleep on. So I hope this can give some closure to a few. And with that, I bid you fellas a good day. Time for me to go back to work. *puts on flame suit*

Well said. BF sounds like a good guy, not a dummy, just someone who made a mistake. I think I can say like we all have done before, myself for sure!
