Default Steering Re assembly Instruction, Help

In the diagram instruction "e" what is the interlock? The spiral cable sub-assembly is the Blue, but I can't figure out what they are referring to as the "interlock"

I think the interlock is usually a white or orange throw-away push tab that comes on new spiral sub-assemblies. It is used to insert at about the 7 o'clock position just outside the spiral cable sub-assembly so the assembly can freewheel 2.5 turns in either direction. Pushing on this tab allows the spiral sub-assembly to freely rotate - so you can make sure the spiral sub-assembly can rotate 2.5 turns clockwise and counterclockwise.

If you are installing a new spiral sub-assembly it should come with a push tab. However, if you are dealing with an existing spiral sub-assembly the push tab has been discarded. If the latter is the case, I suspect your spiral sub-assembly is already positioned so it rotates 2.5 turns both clockwise and counterclockwise. All you'll need to be sure about is that the spiral sub-assembly is centered and the yellow roller wheel (*2) is visible in the window at 9 o'clock on the left side of the assembly - assuming your steering wheel is not heated. If the steering wheel is heated, then you'll need to see the flat cable (*3) in the window at 4:30 on the right hand side of the assembly.

Thanks man, that makes a lot of sense.
