Hey peasodos I am wondering if that little harness #82149 is what I need to plug into the back of the white outlet in the back of my Nav screen (see picture), I do not see any other harness or plugs etc? Any ideas? Thanks! Tim
Did you use anything as a guide to make the green markings or did you approximate?
How is the quality of the HUD on the glass? Are you going to try a film to remedy the double vision image?
Finally got the piece in from Japan. 14 weeks! lol. Might install it during July 4th weekend along with a bunch of other items. Need to close out some of these projects, dragging way too much.
Okay, so a bit of an update. Since I was installing my new steering wheel and shift ****, I decided to tackle on the HUD project at the same time since they require the same steps to disassemble.
The good news is all the wires and connectors required are pre-existing. The HUD wire was tied down with some green tape, peeling it back allow it to extend to the buttons.

The unfortunate part is that I did not realize how perfectly the center console and front dash assembly is interconnected. You have to remove everything, and I mean everything, in the front. I went half way but decided to against it since my I ran out of space in my garage to put the parts down. Here is how tight my work space was BEFORE starting any projects. It's not realistic.

I would have much preferred to do this outside in my driveway but the weather has been extremely moody, would hate to get my interior wet. Since the battery has to be disconnected and the steering wheel and spiral clock assembly removed, the car is immobile. So if it rains, I'm screwed. I am putting the HUD project on hold until I can clear out the garbage in my garage.
Don't get me wrong. The project is VERY DOABLE for anyone who has the space to do it. Only tools needed to remove everything was a wrench, 19mm bolt for the steering wheel, 10mm for random bolts, Phillips screwdriver, and a panel removal tool (any type works). No Torx screws or any specialized tools, everything is pretty much snap-on/spring type assembly.
If someone else is performing this project, please feel free to post!
Scored these parts from a junkyard I found on car-parts.com for $350.00 shipped to my door.
Hardest part will be cutting the dash. I plan on doing this without removing the dash, by using a template and a really sharp box cutter, removing layer by layer. Looks like the synthetic leather layer, then two layers of plastic. Might have to use a wire saw, I'll update the thread with pics, stay tuned !

We'll see if it actually works. I also have some xpel ultimate(100% clear) I plan on testing also.
Nice solution. Reminds me I have to put the PPF on my car that has been sitting here forever. Ugh need to wash and polish the car soon so I can apply it right away. #Procrastination
