I'd like to do this but I have some questions:
  • Is the HUD visible with polarized glasses?
  • Does an astigmatism make the HUD fuzzy?
  • How does it look without the proper windshield?
I just got my windshield replaced and if I had been considering this I would have gotten the HUD version instead.

That sounds like quite a task!

I could see it requiring many dozens of pictures and literally thousands of words to detail the full instructions to follow.

  • yes and barely
  • dont have but don't think it will if windshield is the one for HUD
  • there will be double edges.
to me HUD is OK I just display speed numbers.
the tac line is so thin its like trying to spot a nail on the toad, not worth showing.

Just a warning to anyone looking to do this; Make sure your car has the harness installed that's for the HUD switch. Otherwise you cannot do this.

I purchased all the parts without checking and now I'm stuck with a $100 HUD Brand new Switch.

FYI I've got a 2018 GS350 F-AWD

Does that mean you must abandon this project?

It is definitely there, it's plugged into a fake switch. You have to remove it from that and plug in your switch. The first time I did it, I thought the same thing.

hopefully they'll come out with a 24" HUD for the next gen GS unless someone wants to try retrofitting the LS HUD into our car =)

I don't think it is. I have the switch in front of me as well as my dash apart. I took all dumb switches apart - It's not there.

Can you take a picture of the left side of the console (to the left of the steering wheel)? Just a couple of shots of the wiring.

All those capped blues / greys are too wide. The switch is a smaller plug.

The small top one is the odometer one and the bottom one is the HUD one and both are clip type. I will check TIS.

The 2016-2018 GS350 FSport has the harness in the same location as the 2013-2015 (highlighted pink).

EDIT: Same connector too.

EDIT #2: Follow the cable from your left air vent. See if you can find it using that.

No joy. I've tried to connect the switch to every dead capped connector in the car with no luck.

Yikes... @peasodos Any other suggestions? I'll be surprised if they actually got rid of the entire harness assembly.

I think it's got to be there. I didn't want to take apart my switch to take a pic of the actual plug. Unless Lexus removed the HUD option in 2018(which they didn't) it should be there.
