Default Oil Filter Question

I watched a Youtube video dealing with GS 350 oil change -

It shows a drain plug in the center of the cartridge housing . When I removed mine, there wasn't one. Am I missing something or was the plug omitted at some point. I have a late 2013 model.

Thanks.

I haven't changed the oil on my recently purchased 2015 GS350 yet and I was wondering the same thing. I was going to purchase one of the below oil filter housing drain hoses. Does anyone know which years have the oil filter housing with the removable drain plug?

I don't even bother using the drain valve on my oil filter housing anymore. I loosen the whole oil filter assembly and let the oil drain into a pan for the first 5 seconds and then undo it the rest of the way. I think the whole point of the drain valve was to make the job less messy but it never ended up that way for me. Trying to drain the oil from the filter housing is more trouble than its worth as the drain valve is very hard to release and once you do get it released you end up with a oily mess all over your arm.

True, dat. My 2014 IS250 is "supposed" to have the housing drain plug, but doesn't. I just crack the entire assembly. It's no more mess than a standard spin-on filter.

My '16 does not have the valve either. They must have stopped making it that way. I just spin it open enough to let the excess drain into a pan and then remove it.

Personally, I like the mess free oil change that using the drain tube gives. Here's the one I use, works perfect.
