I'd like to have a single point of reference for all the tint questions that will come. If you've had your 4GS tinted, please upload pictures and link them in this thread

Please list:
- % tint
- color of your interior (does make a big difference in how dark tint appears)
- type of tint if you know it (smoke, dyed, metalized, etc)
- brand of tint if you know it (3M, Solarguard, Lumaster, etc)

I have an Obsidian Black GS and I am leaning towards getting windows tinted. Would love to know Percentage and brand of tint you that have done. Pics are extremely welcomed!

 

i didn't do tint this time around, although i did have it on my SP F-Sport. i have an Obsidian F-Sport with Cabernet interior and no tint. i want the cab interior to be seen. IMO it looks better without tint. a white car should definitely have tint and with black you can go either way, so i chose not to especially now that i have the cab interior. i went with 50% tint on the SP and still got a ticket for the tints. don't get me wrong, i like tints.... i just didn't do it this time, i think my car sans interior looks better without. that's just me.

Same question here. I have a LP F-Sport and was looking at 35%. Not looking to go too dark but I want some uv and heat protection from the S Fla heat.

 

I did 35% front, 45% rear-sides, 55% back window. The gradiant looks great on my white F-Sport GS

 

50% and still a ticket in NY? Wow. Did you have tint on your windshield also? And do you mind me asking where did you get the ticket? I had 15% on my previous ride and got tickets for that. Was planning on doing 50% to be on the safer side...

 

I think the VLT for NY is 70....most cops dont trip...but it always that one.

 

yes sir, 50% tint and got a ticket on Sutphin Blvd in queens, somewhere between rockaway blvd. and linden but closer to rockaway. went back to lexus because the dumbass cop scratched up the tint with the tint meter, and lexus replaced the tint. beat the ticket with a receipt from lexus stating that the tint was removed and still got hit with a surcharge

 

i never tint any of my cars...but I just got my GS tinted w/ 3M CS over the weekend. 50% all around minus the windshield. i have the black interior so 50% comes out just right for me.

 

I live in Texas and always tint every car.
Personal preference really. I go as dark
as the law will allow.

 

I have 20% all around. I dont know the brand I just paid something like 150 and happy with it.

 

I tinted also, dont know the brand. Tinted back windows and rear window with one level above limousine and front window one more shade higher. Happy with the results. Paid 195.

 

Hmm I have a shop quoting me $250 for the 4 sides and rear window after a $30 discount. This seems high based on the prices you guys paid.

 

Go with the tints. Try to go dark as possible but without getting tickets.
