Navigation - complicated?
Our Canadian model has no traffic information available, not even when travelling in the United States.
In Toronto the routing often ignores turn restrictions. In eastern Quebec the maps don't show stretches of the Trans-Canada Highway. In rural Newfoundland the maps don't show many roads, and the routing times the others as though they had not been paved decades ago. Neither, in rural Newfoundland, can the GPS find an address, because the gazetteer used to look up places doesn't know the names of villages.
POIs are virtually useless everywhere (even when they are listed) because they are shown by distance as the crow flies, not the distance off your route.
We use Apple or Google to figure out where we're going and the route, then try to punch it into the Lexus. I'm looking forward to Beat Sonic's adapter to Apple's CarPlay.

Over time I have come to realize that no non-internet connected NAV will always be up to date so I am over that. For me I always use the vehicle nav in conjunction with Waze. This way I can easily see nav info on the dash and use Waze to alert me of any traffic problems or obstacles. I can also look down at Waze if I need more info on the particular route that I am taking. I will say that the '16 NAV is not so bad on my car.

While you have a route (to anywhere) you can go to Preferences. Be sure
that you have both Freeways and Tollways checked on. When they are off
you will be directed in some unpredictable and unusual paths.
You can also drop a "Mark" while moving at a spot you are not at by dragging
the controller (touch screen on all older models and current GX's). Add the
new way point to your route to modify any route you do not agree with.
Posted elsewhere in CL, download Lexus App Suite for free and set it up
with e-mail, password and VIN. Open LAS on screen and select destination
search. You can now just speak your destination name and town and your
phone will do the work, results will be on the Nav screen with phone numbers...

i always use the voice command. gets tbe address right maybe half the time. for a while i started to think i must speak with a lisp or something. its given me some wacky results. adding digits to the address, completely different streets, and even states. once it tried to take me to Ohio. im in California......
