Default Undecided between the two

I have a 99 GS300 and a 10 GS350. Now I want either a 14 GS350 Fsport or a 2013 BMW 640 Gran coupe. I knew the reliability of lexus will be better but the look of the Gran coupe is amazing. I expect the horsepower to be about the same for the two with the BMW have more torque. Has anyone considered or has driven the Gand coupe?

The rear seating in the GS is going to be much more roomy. I personally do not like the interior design of any of the BMWs. So I would say GS all the way. Especially considering the reliability and low-cost of maintenance.

The gran coupe is a looker. If someone else was paying for my maintenance for the next ten years, the 6 would be a no-brainer. But obviously that's not the case so GS it is. Don't get me wrong, I love my GS, but I also love technology... And turbos lol.

I've been in the 6GC. Top notch interior materials. Back Seat is a little cramped and headroom is lacking. You can't carry three people in the back, there's a huge center console running over the driveshaft tunnel. Other than the obvious maintenance issue, it's a great car.

It's easy to stick with what's familiar to you, ask me how I know.

I'd still say GS...

The I-6 in BMWs are fairly reliable. A 2013 would be on the bumper to bumper warranty till roughly 2017/50,000 miles and you get free maintenance. The CPO warranty will go until roughly 2019/100,000 miles I believe. I would just get rid of it before the CPO warranty expires. That's what I'll do with mine.

If you like to keep your cars for several years, get the GS.

Almost like clockwork, things start to fail on a BMW when the warranty lapses.
Open your wallet WIDE when that check engine light begins to flash.

I agree the Grand Coupe is a looker and its probably the number one thing I like the most. I will due my research before I make my final decision. I know what I will get in a Lexus.

My wife 2011 528 is the last year of the (non aspirated) inline 6 and it has been a great car. I do keep my cars for several years and my 99 GS has been a great car and my all time favorite.

Alas, I am not Dave, but he did have a very nice GS400 that veritek (another CL member) now owns.
