My service recommendation says 160000km or 100000 miles. Is that a misprint? The 2007 Lexus RX calls for 64000 km I feel this is a ploy to damage our water pump so we need to buy new cars.

LOL, its not a ploy. First of all a worn out water pump wouldn't make anybody buy a new car, and second Lexus and Toyota as a manufacturer pride themselves on quality and long term reliability. Most people don't wait until their car wears out to buy a new car. They don't participate in that sort of "planned obsolescence".

If you want to change it sooner, then change it sooner. Me, I do what the manufacturer recommends.
