IMHO, the GS 200t is a big fail. Why would an ES buyer get the 200t? The 200t is slower compared to the ES, has fake leather interior, and smaller in size? And for all that you have to pay more? They dropped the ball. Only the clueless buyer will choose 200t over the loaded ES350.

its funny lexus had three years to better the 5, i bought my cpo for 31,900 with 19k. the car is quick, good riding good handling not as good as the gs, tranny is unreal, nav and drive are amazing. cpo till 100k
all day long i would buy a 14 5 cpo for 39 k over a gs 200t
lexus did a good job they should have done better for 36 months of research and development
lexus has two many projects in the portfolio there spreading there talent thin,

The 200t does 0-60 in 7.0s while ES does it in 7.1s. GS200T has semi-aniline leather, ES has nuluxe (a form of vinyl). RWD vs FWD also matters to some people to deserve a premium in pricing. You're entitled to your opinions but you're not entitled to your own facts.

they would get the gs to feel alive, to feel spirited, to feel liberated, vs boring supple reliable transportation.
thats the reason to buy the gs, one of the best rear suspension set ups on the road today
its ridiculous the comparison two completely different vehicles

Just because a car doesn't fit my needs at the moment doesn't mean it's a fail. For example, I'm in the market for the LX570, but I wouldn't call the GS200T a fail just because it doesn't have what I'm looking for. It is a choice that may be appropriate to the the right buyer. This idea that your concept of the car you want should be the same as everyone else is, frankly, anti-capitalist.

no failing is developing a powertrain vs competitors like audi, mercedes and bmw,
and coming up with 0-60 in 7 flat
getting 24 mpg combines, the 5 gets 27
and when i drove the is200 the motor tapers off at about 5k with power the n20 bmw motor pulls like a freight train and runs 0-60 in 5.9
thats failing

Where do you get this from? C&D's 2015 ES350 ran a 5.8 0-60. And, they don't even like the ES.

Oh, and my UL has semi-aniline.

And that's why the GS350 exists...for those people who want a clear separation between the ES and GS. The GS200T is cheaper than the GS350 for a reason, and the GS200t is more expensive than the ES350 for a reason. It is up to the buyer to decide whether these reasons are sufficient to justify the price he is willing to pay. Don't denigrate a choice made available that previously didn't exist. If anything, Lexus should be applauded for brining more model choices to market.

Then buy the BMW. No one's stopping you. Why are you on a lexus forum?

Yes, Lexus has a marketing agenda. Do you really think a GS200t would be quicker to 60 than an ES350?

Really? Show me where 200t is offered with semi-aniline leather ?
ES with ultra luxury package comes with semi-aniline leather, GS200t does not.

ES buyers could careless about the FWD vs RWD.

So you disbelieve Lexus's official website's citation of it's own cars' specs but accept CD? Lexus has a marketing agenda, that doesn't mean it can just put up any number it wants. Lexus website is as good as any starting point for evaluating a car.
