Now hold on just a sec... The M37 is now called Q70 right?

 

Q40: It is designed to look like its G37 predecessor. Shares the same interior as the G37. 3.7L V6
Q50: G37 replacement that features the newer exterior styling also found in the Q70. The interior is also redesigned with dual screens. Sportier interior. 3.7L V6
Q70: Top-tier M-series equivalent, interior is pulled from the M37/M56. It is somewhere in between the GS350 and the LS460. Features a more powerful 3.7L V6, a 5.6L V8, or a hybrid V6.

 

If the only complaint with the GS350 is the gas mileage, then consider the GS450h. You get all the benifits of the 350 plus mid 30's mpg not to mention other goodies.

i am assuming he is looking at 13's for budget thats why i made the suggestions
as we are thinking if your looking for great transportation with a better ride than both and handling is not a big deal try to find a 2014 lexus es300h. if front wheel drive doesn't bother you, to me i would only go rwd or awd

You can find used GS450h's these days for astonishing low prices (especially if you're NOT picky about exterior color/interior color/and "must have" options). To me, it's worth it, considering you get even more car than the GS350 - more options, instant torque of the electric motors, better mpg (especially if driving in the city), possibly less issues (for some reason it seems like a lots of the bugs/TSB's from the GS350 don't apply to the GS450h).

You are sacrificing a bit of weight & you don't have a split rear seat of the GS350, but other than that.. it's a great value if you're looking to buy used.

That's actually a very nicely loaded GS450h at an attractive prices (considering the low miles) that Tom linked to above. CPO so you have additional warranty & all that comes with.

My only problem with a 450h is the CVT. As a car enthusiast I want that changing gear feeling and sound. CVT just drones through the speeds. Simulated shifting CVT doesn't count by the way. Had that in my old Honda and just fooling myself.

 

Do we have a split rear seat? I don't think my rear seat folds down.

 

Yeah, forgot to mention the CVT. It's definitely a differently feeling. Not for everyone.

Also, it doesn't have the exhaust sound of the GS350, unless you go custom. I think the hybrid is targeted more toward the luxury side than the sport side overall.

I guess that I'm mistaken on the split rear seats on the GS then. Maybe it was the IS that I test drove around the same time that had it? My bad.

The Q70 is identical to the previous M37/M56, it just has a mid cycle refresh in the front and rear. It competes directly with the GS, its not in between the GS and LS. The new LWB Q70L you could say competes in between. I drove the Q70L and was very unimpressed, the suspension of the car wasn't modified to compensate with the longer wheelbase, the SWB Q70 rides and handles better.

Big benefit to the Q70 vs the GS is the availability of a V8 below the "F" level. Although the V8 version is expensive, its cheaper than the GSF.

I would never select a Q70/M37 over the GS, the GS is much more refined, build quality and fit and finish are better, technology and displays are much better. GS rides better AND handles better. Styling wise I like the refreshed Q70 model a lot, but comparing the M37 to the GS I prefer the GS.

 

The Q70 is larger than a GS350 and is smaller than the LS460. Thus, size-wise, it is between the GS350 and the LS460. It's four inches longer and offers more front legroom than even the LS460, hence my statement.
Quality-wise I'd place it at or below the level of the pre-2016 ES350. I've never been a fan of Infiniti quality and they always seem to have issues. They do a fair job in design, but spoil it with mediocre materials that wear poorly. Combine this with the sporty, harsh ride in the base model that only gets worse in the sports model, I've never been a fan.

 

Sizes all fluctuate within a certain amount. The 5 Series for instance is longer than the GS but would you say that its between the GS and the LS? No...the 5 Series and GS are clearly designed to compete with one another regardless if one is longer than the other. Same is true of the Q70 and the GS. It rides and drives nothing like the LS, its designed to compete in the GS' space.

When you drive them, the Q70 doesn't feel any more spacious than the GS inside (the Q70L clearly does), while the LS feels much larger. Interior size dimensions only tell part of the story, for instance according to dimensions the GS is bigger than the LS in the rear, and thats obviously not the case when you actually drive the cars.

If you're looking for a car thats "in between" a GS and LS, something like a Hyundai Genesis would fit that description.

I think you're being too harsh. The Q70 certainly has better materials than even a 2016+ ES. Its not as nice inside as the GS no.

I actually really like the Q70 a LOT with the V8....but you're over $70k for that car and thats LS territory.

 

I find it amusing that you're going to argue with me without actually validating anything you say or using facts to dispute me, just like you did in the LS430 thread, then you present that a Genesis is between a GS and an LS. You are a master of red herring arguments and going out of your way to try to assert why your subjectivity is superior to someone else's. At least use facts if you're going to use your tu quoque tactics, that way it's less obvious what you're doing.
