It's too busy, tacky and front heavy. Not elegant like the other luxury makes. It just doesn't exude elegance.

The problem with these new Lexus models is the front just don't seem to match the rest of the body. They look like after thoughts. GX, LX, GS...

The rear end looks good though.

*Both of them

Everyone is comparing the new 2016 base model GS with the last gen GS F-Sport. Before we all get disappointed and judge the front lets wait till the 2016 GS F-sport is revealed and compare to the last gen F-sport. Like I dont like the base models rc, is, and current gs they look weird without the F-sport trim

I'm ready to judge.

I've seen what Lexus has done with the spindle grill on the GX, IS, RX, RC and ES. I've decided I don't like the huge spindle grill. So in my case I doubt making It more pronounced will make me like it more.

I actually prefer the look of the regular IS over the F Sport. I think it's a more elegant look over the boy racerish styling of the IS FSport. The current GS FSport doesn't look like it's trying to be over stylized. It's aggressive but in a subtle manner. The new spindle looks tacked on and seems to be an unnecessary attempt to put the corporate face on. It doesn't seem to fit the rest of the car. The side profile and rear seems appropriate to the luxury make. But when you see the front or front 3/4 view, it just looks wrong. Which makes it a mess in my book.

I think the conventional rectangular, the trapezoidal, inverted trapezoidal, and even the pentagonal-like Hyundai grills look too commonplace nowadays, hence Lexus' spindle grill looks great.

However, no one has made their grills "oversized", yet Lexus has gone out to really make its spindle grills unnecessarily oversized; I don't think the grills will get any bigger than what they are now.

It is true that the 2016 4.5GS Refresh looks to have "add-ons" to the styling [afterthought], rather than having genuinely integrated styling from the ground up like the all new NX and the all new RX.
The L-shaped tail lights on the all new RX looks much better than the L-shaped swoosh on the 2016 4.5GS Refresh.

When I first saw pics of the 2016 GS F early this year, I new the 2016 4.5 Refresh would look basically very similar to the GS F, hence I decided to go for the original 2015 4GS with more integrated styling.

It seems that the base GS200t's have new bland looking 5 spoke alloys, while the flagship GS200t's have the old bland/fussy 18" 9 spoke split alloys, it remains to be seen what alloys will be used on the refreshed 4.5GS350 base, premium, and F Sport.

However, the 2016 4.5GS Refresh does have a number of new features like a few more horses, five way navigation buttons on the steering wheel, a larger 4.3" LCD display on the instrument panel, full screen mode for sat nav, and on dual screen mode, I notice that they no longer have a straight rectangular border, but a more stylish curved border.
The new bi-lateral enter buttons are a good idea, but I'm not sure if the stitched leather wrapped palm rest was really necessary, or the stitching just makes it look too fussy?

Personally, I prefer the GS F's use of the NX and RC's steering wheel, rather than the new 2016 4.5 Refresh's use of the ES Refresh's steering wheel which doesn't look smooth to me, because the central hub is noticeably raised and non-flush fitting.

The new two-tone colored leather door trims are controversial.
Was the new central air vents and clock necessary?

Overall, the 2016 4.5GS is a welcome update.

I have to disagree with you there. The GS F steering wheel button bezels are that cheap rough and easy to scratch plastic from the IS, RC, NX and CT that have absolutely no business in a Lexus.

I much prefer the new RX, ES and non F GS steering wheel smooth plastic bezels

Yes, the RC and GS F does have cheap buttons on their steering wheels.

Maybe it just takes time to get used to the new 6.5ES, 4RX and 4.5GS's steering wheels...

Glad I already have my 2014 GS. The front on this one is as aggresive as I want to go. Don't like the front on the 2016 at all. Thanks Lexus you just saved me another $55K

It looks a bit plasticky I guess.
Notice how the two columns on the side of the radiator grill are solid plastic, and you can see the underlying bumper through the grill?

Overall, it still does its job as a good refresh...

Since Toyota is too cheap to hire separate designers for Toyota and Lexus - I am offering my services to them for FREE!

Not a fan. The overly aggressive front end looks out of place with the remainder of the design, and just comes across as fugly. I don't understand the fascination they seem to have these days with the boy racer look, especially at this price point. Aggressive can look good, but this just looks clownish.

From all accounts, the 2016 E Class Benz sounds like it's going to be spactacular, and if it looks like the new S-Class, then I know what I'll be buying.

I love the tail lights. Does anyone know if these are the same size and shape as the current model ones? I would swap mine out with these new ones in a heart beat.
