I'd have to see some documentation on that...

Before I bought my GS, I was considering a 2015 Acura TLX. The Acura forums also complained about the remote start shutting off the car when entering the car. My wife's 2013 Infiniti does not shut off when opening the door after a remote start.

Is it possible this is a new law that makes the manufactures implement this feature?

The fob should not be part of the subscription, only the remote start app is. I believe the 2013/14 also has the fob start as a standalone option and it's not a subscription. Even my old Camry has that option.

The dealer tech specialist told me that. An active data service through Safety Connect is required. The fob still uses a data connection to tell the car to start. That's why when you try to start the car with the fob in a parking garage, it doesn't work.

My mom has a 2015 ES350, but never activated the Enform Remote stuff, and as a result the fob starter function doesn't work.

i am a little confused. with the factory remote start, there is yet another remote that you use to start the car? and if you want to use the fob to start the car, you need subscription?

That doesn't make any sense. The fob does not have the technology to use the data network to start the car. Its just a key fob...it has no cellular data ability.

The fob on my 2015 LS works in a parking garage so deep that there is no cell service. The fob remote start works just like it did on my 2013 GS without enform remote. I have a friend with a 2015 GS, he has never set up enform and his fob remote start works.

I think the tech specialist is full of it.

No. The 2015 models have "enform remote" which is an app that lets you start the car, lock/unlock the car, check status, etc from anywhere over data. THAT you need a subscription for. The car also still has an ordinary remote start that you activate by pushing twice and holding down on the lock button on the fob. No separate fob.

But if you check your app when you fob remote start, the app shows the 10 minute countdown, therefore the car sends something. Tried fob start when I first read about it months ago while my car was parked in the garage and it didn't work. Then pulled the car out, tried again, and that time it worked.

Your friend must've activated his account because I took the 2015 ES outside, tried fob remote start, and nothing.

We will know for sure in August or September when some early 2015 owners' complimentary period expires.

CAN WE HAVE A 2013 GS OWNER TEST THE FOB REMOTE START AND REPORT BACK???

Why do you have to idle your car for 10 or 20 minutes?
I do agree that you should be able to get in and drive away.

I give it 1-3 mins on a cold morning otherwise 1 min and I roll slowly without gunning hard until the temp gauge reaches the normal range then all hell breaks loose.

The button combination you have to hit with the fob is a little complicated, its easy to do it incorrectly. He has never activated his account. The remote key fob start runs for 10 minutes and shuts down too.

I used the remote start all the time on my 2013 GS and it worked exactly the same way.

We don't have Enform in Canada and our cars do not remote start from the Lexus FOB

Went with a good after market remote. When I remote start the car it will run for x minutes (default 10) then shutdown, which is normal. But as soon as you unlock the door the car stops running which I don't like either

see that's my understanding too. i am an engineer and i might know a thing or two. there is now way a key fob has enough power from that little battery to power any kind of signal strong enough for that kind of communication (communication with a cell tower) let alone transferring data. the key fob should ONLY be talking directly to the car (with infrared or whatever), that's why there is a distance limitation. if a tiny battery can do all that, our smart phones would have been at least half the size overnight

so i can't imagine or relate how one needs to have enform subscription in order to use the fob to start the car. the enform app, of course.

of course the car sends something. otherwise there is no way it can communicate with the enform app through cellular data. once the car is started it has no problem sending data to the app to indicate the timer.

but still, that doesn't mean the fob is sending cellular data.

So I was so impatient I didn't let the salesman tell me about this upon delivery. Pretty sweet
