The dashboard is too distracting
There is so much going on.
TMI.
I try not to operate most of functions available to me while driving, but it is hard to resist.
I also told JD Power there is too much going on.

Great.. now the new GS will come with only a basic CD player, no screen, no buttons, nothing! Just a plain basic dashboard like the base CT.

And I really hate how Japanese cars treat us as if we are stupid. In my wife's X5 I can do everything without having to put the car at a full stop.

As for being too distracting I think that's a loaded statement since any car with some sort of centerstack technology such as this is going to be distracting...
Auto makers just need to learn from Apple and make their menus and icons simple and easy to read at a quick glance. I think the overall display screen on the GS could be revised so the clickable icons/buttons are more pronounced, perhaps having more contrast between the colors of the background and the actual icon you are trying to click. A dark blue background and light blue or white icon in a bubble shape should be much easier to read at a glance than these file folder style icons they have currently have.

me too...after owning highline European cars as a daily driver for the last 15 years, my pocketbook needed a break from their seemingly never ending expensive maintenance needs.
I wanted a trouble free car from a manufacturer with a quality service experience-the main reason I bought a Lexus.
Don't know if I will buy another Lexus, but right now I am happy with my choice.

I've driven the car for 2.5 years and 37,000 miles, don't find the dashboard distracting at all.
What is it exactly that is going on? If you don't want the big screen on...turn it off.

On the big screen I have my music mostly, sometimes map when I need to check for traffic and use the nav, and A/C control on the smaller screen (just to watch the fan goes up and down depending on the temp).
Everything else is set to Auto.

I wish I could have the the screen be as one. Full screen maps with maybe more info on the smaller portion for the as needed, etc. Or have the audio on the left and album art on the right.
