When I drive BMWs I don't feel that...

I drove the 5 Series extensively as well as the E Class before I bought my GS. I drove them back to back to back...I feel nothing of what you're describing, in fact I feel the GS has the heaviest, most direct feeling steering out of those 3.

I wonder if it has something to do with the new wheels and tires you had installed.

no, it was doing that on the stock wheels and tires, its not doing as much now. You see a bunch of people on the first thread validate that they are experiencing the same issue.

But If you think the GS wheel is more heavier than a 5 series on Normal mode, than we are not even on the same page. The BMW steering wheels are one of the most heaviest steering wheels out there.

It's only at low speed and on moderately crowned roads, it's when sometimes u can actually see the road crowned and ur kinda leaning a bit.. that's what I'm trying to say. lol We have a lot of that here in SoCal, wavy road, rough, uneven road, pot holes we have all that here.

Just because it tracks straight in some circumstances doesn't mean there isn't an alignment problem.

The GS 350 naturally has an subdued edginess (a bit fidgety you might say) from its suspension, unlike other luxury cars that don't also double as a performance car.

I would if there weren't 6 other people that are experiencing the EXACT same thing. I guess all of our cars are broken except yours and bclexus. Lucky you.

What you are feeling or experiencing is obviously hard to describe in words. I can understand that. But, what I gather from what you are describing - I do not feel or experience. You said the steering wheel shoots away when you take your hands off the wheels, even on the freeway. Can you explain this better?

Here's a question for you. Are you trying to solve an issue you're having with your car, or do you just want to ******?

Sorry for being blunt, but you asked people for their experiences with our own vehicles and we're giving that to you. Why you would want to discount what those of us who aren't having the issue have to say is beyond me. If you want to live with it, fine. If it were my car I'd take it in.

Lets examine what some of the other people are saying:

Its a combo of tire pressure, tire wear and tires that cause this. I suggest bumping up the pressure.
He noticed your issue when his tires were wearing out, and installing another set of tires fixed the issue. He suggested you increase your tire pressure. You replied that you weren't willing to try that.

My question is, if you don't want to listen to his advice, and you don't want to listen to my advice...both of which may improve your issue why are you posting?

Forgot to reply to this. Older BMW 5s I agree, not the current BMW 5. I thought the steering was quite light in the non Sport package cars I drove. Its a pretty well documented issue, a lot of BMW purists are unhappy with their new electronic power steering being so light and numb.

Sounds to me like you should have gotten a 5 Series

Im not saying as soon as you take your hands off the wheel it shoots away everywhere. My point is when you are on an uneven pavement (such as a freeway) because the freeways have a slight angle to them so the rain water will run off and drain away, and you take you hands off ... the wheel will follow the curve dramatically.

All cars will do this to some degree obviously because there is an uneven angle, but im my experiences the GS is much more sensitive to these curvatures. If you are not experiencing the same problem , hey im truly happy, but its seems the majority of the people are experiencing it.

Again...the car should not do that to that degree. Alignment specs are designed to compensate to some degree for the crown in the road, and if you aren't happy with the stock specs, they can make custom adjustments to the alignment that can help.

That is...if you're actually looking for a solution.

And 3-4 people, one of which experienced it only on an old set of tires and not on the new ones is not the "majority" of people.
