You mean you weren't aware of the accelerator pedal detent (kickdown) switch in cars with automatic transmissions?
My cousin had a BMW that would do the same thing and he didnt even know his car could go faster until I told him about it when he was on the way to the Lexus dealer to trade his car for a 2013 GS 350. He tried it and then told me all this time, 4 years, and never experiance his car go this fast before.
Well at least he got to see his car at full throttle once before he traded it in.
I wouldn't have know about this and would be driving this car until the end, missing out this great feature and complaining all my life about the 8 speed hesitation!!!
So thank you Modthispny, Dchar, Duke, ALIENV8DER, and of course my twin Sick21!!! This thing feels like a V8 now.
Come on guys. Kick downs have been around for decades on German cars. Got to say I LOVE the 8 speed ... I thought it would be busy but it's perfect and really adds to the smooth luxury and sporty nature of this car.
Alright I just tried it on the freeway. This thing worked! Basically all the bad comments I made regarding the 8 speed tranny just throw it out the window! The car downshifts and jet away from everybody else when passing like it supposed to. I knew this car can do it but wasn't pushing hard enough, no more hesitation!
Man I'm loving this car even more now!!
Will try it in a few, will report back hold on. Perhaps i wont hate the 8spd so much if it works as i hope it does
The switch does not open the throttle any larger, it just forces the tranny to shift to the lowest available gear. Basically it's an electronic kickdown cable.
