ahaha, I almost did not buy the car bc it did not have them. I have 2-3 pairs of sunglasses in my car on ay given day, the lack of compartments in the GS is just killing me. I had an Acura before, and it had so many compartments, I had place for everything in it, I even had a place for a gun. In the GS, I only keep one 2 pairs of glasses, one I keep in the little tray under the ARM rest, the other I keep in the cup holder.
Drove up to L.A. last Saturday from the San Diego area to pick up the new GS. The wife and I needed to stop on the way home to visit with her friend.
As we exited the car she asks "where's the sunglass holder?" I took a quick look around, didn't see it, and said we will find it when we get back in the car.
We got in the car and drove home. We got out of the car and again I heard, "where's the sunglass holder?"
I turned all the map lights on and off and pushed whatever other buttons I could find trying to locate the sunglass holder.
I resorted to pushing on the padded headliner in my quest to find any opening that would suffice as a sunglass holder.
I gave up. I said to the Mrs., "there does not look to be a sunglass holder".
Then it started-a lighthearted, well, my Prius has a sunglass holder. Why doesn't your Lexus have a sunglass holder? She now has fodder for conversation with her friends, especially those lucky enough to own a car with a sunglass holder. It does not matter that there might be 2 passengers in the car who each need a place to stow their sunglasses.
In this case to have at least one sunglass holder is enough for bragging rights and the Mrs. has won the battle of whose car is better equipped.

Next time she is in the GS, press down hard on the accelerator, and ask her "My car roars - why doesn't your Prius roar?"

You need to have one of these mounted and motorized in the console, have it rise up with all your sunglasses ready to pick.
I tried to line it up to see if it would fit, but couldn't really eye it up. So, I popped out front handle. By the way, not easy at all...
Driver's side handle popped out.
AND - I couldn't find anyway to make it work. First the length is too short to fit in the current holes. Also, the clip system works totally different. I spent about an hour trying to come up with a way to make it work, but finally gave up. If someone a lot smarter than me (not too difficult to achieve) can make it work, please let me know.
i really cant wrap my head around the fact that lexus took features away with the new GS, features being sunglasses holder and automatic mirrors
dont understand it at all
I have a 2014 GS350 and it has automatic mirrors. You should have waited one more year. And i agree that Lexus needs to stop taking away features that was available to last gen GSs.
