Right. You need to add that piece of info when you give people advice that amounts to you telling them AWD isn't necessary in a snowy climate. The reason your RWD GS cars were excellent in the snow was not "the Lexus' great traction control"...it was that you had winter tires

If you take a RWD GS out in the snow on allseason tires...it will be a mess. Thats the experience of owning two RWD LS sedans in the snow on allseasons talking...both had traction and stability control...both were pigs in the snow.

When you live in a climate like mine, we have snow in the winter, but we also have average temps over 45 degrees and more dry and wet than we have snow, winter tires don't make sense. This is a climate where AWD really helps because you can stay on all seasons but still get around safely in the snow.
