Default Is LoJack worth it?

Just got my 2014 GS F-Sport a week ago and am loving the car. The dealer offered the LoJack install for $695 but I didn't know enough about it to give an answer at that point.

Do any of you guys have it installed on your car? I saw that there is another option of Early Warning but that's another $300. Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

honestly. youll have to have a criminal with a extremely mechanical back ground to break into your car, and it would have to be under the right circumstances, unless he towes it, (which is highly unlikely because what thief has a towtruck??) If you dont plan on doing anything major to the car, IE modding or anything, then no lo jack is not worth it. Newer cars, 07 and up all have some sort of electrical and/or safety device into the key or ECM/BCM that makes it very hard for someone to steal a car.

And Honestly, I am very different from very many people, but If you have insurance, it gets stolen, insurance cant locate the car, you get a new one. For me, If it gets stolen, I can find it, insurance will find it, and the person wont have a happy ending.

If you want Lo Jack then get it. If you arent comfortable in where you live or where you park the car for work, then it could be beneficial, but IMO its not worth it if you have the right insurance policy.

Have it on my Mazda , had it on my Nissan Pathfinder, never got it on my '14 CR-V, I don't think it's really necessary.

Definitely not worth it if you don't park your car around shady places.

You don't need it. Our cars have a stolen vehicle locator. It's part of Enform...Safety Connect.

I'd recommend you save your money for something more useful and fun.

Depends where you live but I don't think you really need it. However, I got it installed at the dealership on my last car because the money I was saving on insurance for having it was more than the payments were for it since it was tied into my financing.

If someone steals my car, they can keep it. That's what insurance is for.

What about things like:
  • Personal property in the vehicle (gps, laptop, ipad, cash etc.)
  • Loss of your down payment?
  • Loss of insurance deductible?
  • Loss of start up costs (acquisition fee, sales tax, registration fee's, first payment, etc.)
  • Do you have rental coverage? What about cost of rental beyond 30 days?
  • Cost of payments until vehicle is deemed total loss? 60 days? 90 days?
  • Cost of lost time. Inconvenience. Missed time from work

These items here could add up to $1,000's that you may never see again. You sure you dont want your car back?

Wrong, you should know this living in Cali. Cars are stolen from anywhere, at anytime. Especially in SoCal. In fact while I type this cars are being stolen probably near where you're at.

i'm going to have too disagree... i had lojack installed on a previous car and they got into my car with a key, however they used a scanner to locate the lojack and bypassed it. CAR GONE in 60 seconds. mind you i had the early warning upgrade fob on my key ring, they did not have a flatbed/tow truck. it was all caught on a neighbors camera and they found the car 4 months later in PA, i was living in NY at the time. IMO lojack sucks.

Lexus is equipped with their own lojack type system, stick with that. i'd have to agree with lexruger... that's what insurance is for. i know it's a PITA to have your car stolen, I KNOW... at the end of the day the insurance plus your GAP will cover the cost. 30 days later you're pushing a new whip, i only waited 3.

I will never leave a large amount of cash or expensive items in my car. If I do, I keep receipts anyway.

Insurance covers rentals.
